Not sure how you can read that article and land on this as your takeaway?? He literally said he's have a blast and loves the group. And that it becomes a very different conversation if and when they ask him to waive.

Clearly, nobody feels he was good at that time, and everyone would agree with you, but for some reason, we're still having to read about it almost 2 seasons after. I'll stop though as it's clear I'm not convincing you. Have at 'er.

Actually it's been less than a year since he was the worst goalie in the league. I think the point is get rid of him while you have the chance since he's extremely bipolar. Seems like a genuine concern.

He said he's not going to ask for a trade but also said it's up to the Flames to decide what direction they want to go. Basically said if the time comes they will discuss it. That pretty much says he is open to the idea if it presents itself. Definitely didn't shut down the idea of a potential trade, so he is somewhat open to the idea at a minimum.

It means he’s open to the idea of having a conversation.

Wasn't all Markstrom but he was the main factor.. Hanifin and Rasmus played the worst hockey of their careers. Gudbradson played like crap. Lindholm didn't do much and same with Tkachuk after Game 1, but that was the worst performance of any goalie in Flames playoff series. Yes, even worse than Trevor Kidd vs the Sharks!
He gave up 24 goals in 5 games!

That's what happens when the skaters in front of you keep giving up breakaways to Draisaitl.

Wrong, the Flames played good enough to beat the Sharks but were let down by Kidd. The whole team played like ass against the Oilers.

If only that were the problem. He was ridiculously bad that entire series. It basically took him a full year to recover from it.
Flames should trade Markstrom if there is a market.

Wow make it so Conroy, I wonder if NJ is a place where Hanifin would be willing to sign too. If you max retained on Hanifin while also sign and trading him in a package with Markstrom that would look mighty attractive to the right team. Could be a blockbuster in the works for sure!
Dallas could use a Tanev as well, intriguing prospects outside of their big ones.

1st and Mercer for a fully retained Marky. That's the minimum.

Why do you think Conroy wouldn't know this? It is safe to assume he knows substantially more than what he is expressing publicly

Well according to Markstrom they have not even had any discussions about a trade. So unless this conversation happened after the Francis interview I am not putting a lot of stock in this one.

And yet there are multiple reports that they have. Saying they haven't had a conversation likely means they haven't had a SPECIFIC conversation (i.e. resulting from an actual proposal).
Think about it, Markstrom just had a conversation with Francis FFS, you don't think he's had a conversation with Conroy? Because it would be part of Conroy's job to have conversations with him.

Pagnotta has had a lot of juicy flames rumors over the years and I do not think a single one has come true
