A few comments so far talking about him on the Wranglers. Just a heads up, but you can't assign waiver pick ups to the AHL. He would have to go through waivers again. He's meant for the big club only.

Not for long I’m guessing if Tanev is getting shipped out. I bet that is going to happen pretty soon if it does.

Hoping we pick up a second or third line center in any Tanev trade.

If you can’t beat them. Beat them up.

Honestly man? We're not winning and I've made peace with that. Can we at least be entertaining?

If we're going to play boring buckle-down hockey and still lose? I'm not going to watch that.

I don’t know. Do we care if we lose Oesterle?

I think he means we just keep 8 D on the roster, but yeah, I won't be sad if Oesterle was claimed on waivers. Surprised, certainly, but not sad.

This has more to do with losing Tanev and maybe Hanifin... Kyligton already more than replaces that bum Zadorov. We could probably get him back though if the Canucks are willing to add

A RH dman that can PK feels like a hedge for a Tanev trade IMO.

Would be surprised if he's not traded by the end of this New York road trip

I'd be shocked. Absolutely stunned if someone claimed him.

I'm surprised WE still use him!

So, I wonder what type of response the Flames got from Hanifin if the all stsr break was the deadline. Does this move answer the question?

Stay at home defencemen who is physical and has leadership abilities for a 'free' look? Why not? May not be anything there, or maybe there is something if you are patient. I think this is a solid pickup by the Flames. Replaces Disomone, adds a little sandpaper to the lineup, and there isn't any reason to believe that this kid is a finished product.

Vegas has more depth on D than the Flames right now, and it's only going to get worse.

It is a real problem.

Analytics can only work on the data you have to go with. The perfect defensive play is one where nothing happens, and it doesn't show up in the kind of data available to the public.

The ability to make a first pass is a contribution towards offence. Shot suppression can be measured – in some cases – but it's a function of all the players on the ice, and it's difficult to attribute the correct shares of that to individual players.

Looks like Edwards has finally accepted the situation and let Conroy start assembling a young prospect-based team for the 2024-2025 season. We're not gonna win much, but it will be fun to watch the guys develop next season, hopefully. Would be nice to add a couple of top drafted NHL-ready prospects in summer.
