You take 16 year olds out of their homes, they are going to be very influenced by the 18-19 year olds who were in that same position 2-3 years ago. It's a vicious cycle, and a terrible system.

Police can only do so much, it's the prosecutors who decide to charge or not

I mean sure. But to be fair posting unseriously and facetiously in threads like this one seems like a dangerous game to play to begin with.
Maybe the investigation threads aren't the place to be testing people's sarcasm detecting abilities given how those things usually fly over.

Yup.
Combine that with a culture that idolizes them and gives them pretty much anything they want?

I don't understand why these kids aren't under constant watch. I get why is more difficult with 18 and 19 year olds, because they are technically adults, but minors should have adult chaperones confirming where they are and what they are doing at all times. It sounds like they just send them out to things like galas, and let them run wild.
Even the 18 year old and older players should have to agree to certain rules and conditions as part of their privilege to play in the league.

Sexual assault isn't a hockey issue, it's a human issue. Can only hope that one day we will evolve beyond smart hairless apes.

Because many of the same adults in charge have been part of that culture for decades.

I mean, there's three pizza guys. One guy ordered pizza. One guy delivered pizza. One guy went to the room for pizza. Hence why this went from 8 to 5. The Pizza Guy appears to be being left out of this.

Wellwood, Laich, Fleury, Stajan seem like low key guys. I’d be shocked if we ever heard anything like this about them. Some other name stick out as party boys. Wouldn’t be surprised if a few of them are listed in whatever may come out over time.

I believe (and someone in criminal law can correct me if I'm incorrect) that the problem is that the police investigate and if their finding are "insufficient", then it never gets to the prosecutors for an adequate decision. It's pretty easy to "not see" something if one doesn't want to, and I think that is where the problem appears to be centred.
Hence the stories of cops and the "rape myth" and simply not believing the woman, or saying, well, you WERE wearing really skimpy clothes.
And, not to put to fine a point on all of these guys...they all have mothers, sisters, cousins and girlfriends....and now mostly wives and daughters.

because someone seems chill as an adult makes you less suspicious of their propensity to commit a sexual assault?
that's a archaic take that needs to get called out.
bet you just as many seemingly low key guys have assaulted a person as "party boys" have. just because someone seems nice doesn't mean that they actually are.

Too take it to the extreme, Dahmer seemed like a pretty chill guy who kept to himself.

The other thing is that some of these "chill" types are extremely passive with peers and may just go along with it.
