We have Al MacInnis hanging in the rafters after all, or is he forever a Flame like Nieuwendyk?

MacInnis is Forever a Flame, but unlike #25, no one has worn #2 for the Flames since Commodore 20 years ago.

Is he actually going to play? The statement just said that he is back practicing with the Wranglers. Not that he is on the roster yet.
It's an encouraging step forward though.

Can't wait to hear the cheers and applause from the fans when he skates back on the ice for the Flames.

Wow! Amazing news for him and the organization! I had pretty much written off any chance he was coming back this year and was simply hoping he got his health back. So happy for Shilly! Baby steps right now but I hope he’s able to pick up where he left off and join the big club soon.

No. 2 will be Oliver's number with the Wranglers. I don't know if he'll switch with the Flames if/when he returns.
I don't expect him to play this weekend, based off brief chats with Conroy and Cull at the Dome this morning.

If there was ever a time to attend an AHL game (honestly disappointed I haven't seen the Wranglers live yet), that time is now.
Welcome back Shilly <3

Is there a time limit or max number of games an NHL player can have with an AHL affiliate under a conditioning stint? At least before they would have to be put on waivers to be sent down?
Not asking because I want him back playing for the flames as soon as possible but because it would be good for him to have as much time with the wranglers as he needs… but the league rules likely have a limit on that.

I think a conditioning stint can only be 2 weeks. Based on the statements put out sounds like he is just going to practice for a few days, so I wouldn't expect to see him in games this weekend. Assuming it goes well participating in practice and team activities. he would likely suit up for next weekends games, then back on IR or to the Flames roster.
I believe he would have to clear waivers to stay on the Wranglers roster after the 2 week period.

13.8 Conditioning Loan. Unless a Player consents, he shall not be Loaned on a Conditioning Loan to a minor league club. Such Conditioning Loan shall not extend for more than fourteen (14) consecutive days.
Wranglers play 5th, 6th, 11th and 12th before going on the road.

This is a 13.9 LTI conditioning loan, not a 13.8 conditioning loan.
Valid for six days or three games played by team, whichever is longer, with potential to extend by two more games by request.
