I watched their game last night. Not overly impressed.
Keys to the game. Get pucks deep and get ultra aggressive on the forecheck.
With Soucy injured, Cole, Myers Juulsen, Friedman playing more minutes than they are used to. Cole took 2 penalties last night because Isles took time and space away. Cole is the best out of the 4 mentioned which means Juulsen and Friedman might be turning the puck over if we get in aggressively on the forecheck. At the very least, if we pressure hard, they'll just chip the puck off the wall and out and we'll regain possession.
They are on a 2nd night of back 2 back with a short travel so really, it's up to us to dictate tempo and speed in the game.
Who knows, they might check out after 2 periods if we keep coming at them.

Anyway, not sure why there's such gloom and doom here. I think tonight will actually be a coin flip and it really ultimately depends on how hard the boys come out.

The last forty-two minutes were good. The first eighteen were garbage.

Fun fact. Only two players played significantly more than their average: Quinn Hughes and Filip Hronek. Everyone else stayed about the same.

More likely they check out the first 10 - 15 minutes and you hope to score two or three in that time on DeSmith. If DeSmith blanks you, the team usually wakes up around this time.

Someone did the math. They're still like 4th goals for. I think you need to slow your roll and come to terms with the fact this may be the greatest team ever assembled.

It's just fact.

I don’t think that exists. By that I mean the automatic part.

I suspect the Canucks are like the 2015 Flames. Overachieving to a certain extent, benefitting from good luck and things coming together a bit, and getting some wins early.

But that team wasn't strong and fell apart eventually. It lasted longer than experts thought though.

That's interesting. Hopefully Hughes and Hronek spent most of their fuel last night. Playing 30 min a night is not sustainable and will lead to injuries. I assumed the bottom 4 played more because I saw 2 gaffes by Cole, a few by Juulsen who looks pretty slow out there and I think Friedman ended up getting benched (or injured)
What I'm saying is that I saw a lot of holes that could be exploited and with the right game plan, flames could win tonight.

DeSmith is playing well and is having a good season so far.

I agree though, absolute key is to jump on them early and get a couple quick ones.

I also thought canucks got the benefit of the calls last night. Penalties were 6-2 with lot of non calls in the 3rd when I thought Isles would get on the PP

You aren't making her a Flames fan are you?

I mean hasn't she been through enough in the last few years?

I'll have to admit, this Canucks team is better than the Oilers team.

First home game after a lengthy road trip frequently leads to a loss.

Here's a funny thought. There are still 4 games before American Thanksgiving. The generally accepted benchmark for the season where you know if you're good or bad. Aside from tonight, this is a relatively weak schedule. Kraken Predators Islanders. If they go 4-0 in this stretch they make it back to .500.

Feeling optimistic about this one. They played an emotional "Horvat returns" game they had to come back to win in overtime. Soucy is out, so now there are two AHL-quality d-men playing top 6. Juulsen looks confused a lot, and Friedman got rocked and ended up in concussion protocol before returning. Myers is always an adventure, and Hughes and Hronek played 30 minutes last night.

We'll get DeSmith in net, who's been playing fairly well, but he gives the juiciest rebounds right into the slot, where ideally Kadri will find himself to take advantage of them.

Plus Pettersson looks like he's playing about 60% with whatever his current injury might be--can't skate as fast or shift like he normally does.

Prediction--Zary gets a multiple point game, Tanev is up for this not only because he usually is against his old team, but he may want to resign there in the summer, and we win by two goals.

Canucks are good this year. This one will not end well.

I’ll say 6-1 ‘Nucks.

She knows where the Flames stand .

Strangely enough, the "Boo-falo" (as she likes to call them) Sabres are her go-to team. Probably cause Tage Thompson is so dreamy.

Hubey 3 point breakout game.

My first live game of the season so likely a heavy defeat, given that my presence in the building is usually with at least 2 GA.
