But you will certainly need to take money and term of garbage back as part of the deal

Could easily see Colorado taking him back.

A deal around Kadri for Girard and a pick could work well for both sides

I can’t, they are bargain bin searching for who they plug in.

I could see decent interest in Kadri if the flames willing to take back a useless player with significant cap hit and maybe 1-2 years term.

We see that but at the time it was a FA signing and as we have seen multiple times GM's are much dumber when it comes to a "free" asset.
When it comes to giving up pieces to take a bad contract on GM's rarely are willing to give up anything and more often than not ask for pieces coming with the bad deal.

You can only retain on 3 players, so do it wisely:
- Maximize return on Hanifin and Lindholm
- get rid of one anchor: Huberdeau or Kadri
That’s it. That’s all.

Not asking for a single asset. In fact, we can help create the cap space for 2023-24!

Between the Lindholm/Hanifin numbers coming out, the Toffoli trade, and Huska, I'm starting to get some real questionable vibes about Conroy's decision making.
Not convinced the guy who traded his leading scorer for a 4th liner and hired the worst coach this team has had since Greg Gilbert is the guy getting outstanding value from this firesale. But let's wait and see.

Colorado is adding the pick to the older guy, signed for longer and to more money?

You should be retaining on Hanifin, Lindholm, and one of Tanev/Zadorov this deadline. Those will all be off the books July 1 anyways and you will have all 3 retention spots again next year
Is $58M over 8 years realky that crazy of an offer for Hanifin - that's $7.25M AAV.
Vince Dunn got $7.35M, Reilly was $7.5M, Provorov is $6.75, Lindholm was $6.5M. It's within $500k of most of those guys which feel like valid comparisons.

They need the cap space beyond this year though. Adding Kadri screws them badly.

if what he has done is convinced the franchise to "re-something" that's the most important accomplishment and long-term will be far more important to this franchise than the above.
I don't have much of a view on Huska yet, but, having an absolutely god-awful start to the season was absolutely critical. So if he's a bad coach - i don't mind it. Winning isn't the goal right now.

Don Maloney will hopefully lose his job for thinking the roster construction was good. How can you have 40-years of experience in the NHL and have zero idea what a good team looks like
Seriously...he thought this bottom feeder team was a contender.

I do not see a fit for Zadorov in NJ barring an injury.
He is not better than Sigenthaler. Bahl is signed through next season.

Most NJ fans want Brendan Smith fired into the sun and replaced with Zadorov
