Not encouraged by what I saw as the exhibitions progressed and opposing line ups got closer to starting day rosters.

Lindholm and Hanifin have to really elevate their play if want pay raises no matter where it is. Even if their hearts aren't in it with Calgary, you still have to put out for that next contract or a team to deal for you.

Only players that are giving me genuine excitement are Coronato and Wolf. And we won't get to see Wolf in an NHL net for a bit yet.

I want to believe they'll be way tighter on execution and show some honest to god creativity on Wednesday but building any kind of expectations for game 1 feels precarious.

Going to go in expecting to puke from my eyeballs. Hopefully they can exceeed that bar.

Jiri brought up Paul Ranger - he was a top 4 defenceman for the Lightning, and then he played 8 games in 2009-10 and stepped away from the game for 3 years.

When he came back, he spent a year in the AHL with the Marlies, I believe on an AHL contract, and then signed with the Leafs the year after, played 1 season, then in Switzerland before retiring for good.

So if Kylington does come back, him spending some time in the AHL to acclimatize isn't out of the question.

I don't think that a conditioning stint in the AHL should be out of the question. Make the decision based on how he looks.

I guess with flames not putting any players on waivers today that the lineup is pretty much set. I presume schwindt , klapka and solovyov are sent down tomorrow.
