It never ceases to amaze me how these coaches and gms just keep getting passed around and recycled from one team to the next. Yeah, Babcock had success coaching one of the best built and managed teams in the pre cap modern era. Does anyone look at Lindstrom, Datsyuk, zetterberg or any of the legendary Wings and say that their success was because of him? I might be off base here but in today's game it seems like coaching only really seems to influence a team when it's toxic, in a negative way.

I can understand the hire, CBJ had "success" under Torts at least by their standards so another hard ass, veteran coach fit the bill. Especially after the gong show they had last year under that rookie HC who was way out of his league.
I think Jarmo is a good GM but his coaching hires may cost him his job. I don't even think Babcock was the worst although he took a big gamble with him. Larsen last year was a terrible hire from the start, similar to Glue Gun for Calgary and just baffling choice as a HC for a super inexperienced group to begin with.

wow...what a PR disaster for CBJ.
Not sure what Babcock was doing; its one thing to ask players about their families by asking them about things publicly posted on IG for example, but it sounds like it went quite a bit deeper than that...

The only comparable I can think of is Neil Smith being replaced as Islanders GM before the season began. I can't think of a coach being fired before actually getting a few games.

Give me a Tom Ford suit and I would look great on TV tapping guys on the shoulder. Even better in the post game pressers. I would be awesome as an NHL head coach. Remember player numbers and everything.

While the way this all played out is embarrassing for the franchise… I imagine most of the players in the room are just happy he’s gone. It’s probably a relief that Babcock is gone before they don’t even half to deal with him for even a training camp.
I imagine their next coach will be a “players coach” that most guys find easier to play for. I wonder if Boudreau would be a guy to step in last minute for them.

Maybe people have different opinions about the situation? Seems like an unnecessary pot shot against another poster.

I'm not here to pile on Babcock
Pascal Vincent the new Head Coach? Hell yes, I'm happy the best coach the CB Eagles ever had is getting a gig as a head coach in the NHL.
Very proud.
He's a great guy. And 1,000% deserves this.

I have to say, I do wonder how that young player will be treated going forward. I don't trust organizations who try to sweep things under the rug, and secondly, the PA who officially put out a statement should be investigated internally for jumping to conclusions as well. How anyone gave the guy the benefit of the doubt is the real mystery here. Guys pay their union dues, but only a few truly get represented. Embarrassing.

I take it you're new here. Childish bickering and infighting is 90% of this forum's content from April to October.

I wonder if this is a blessing in disguise for CBJ. Babcock was a bad idea from the start, aside from this business.

They took a big swing on a guy with past success but it was always going to be a boom/bust hire. I'm just shocked that the guy couldn't even make it to the preseason. Clearly this man is socially awkward and doesn't have a clue on how to properly interact with people. Even a mediocre office manager would know better than going through an employee's personal phone. This is why Quenneville shouldn't be hired again IMO. Keenan, Hartley, Babcock, Peters, Sutter, etc. These guys are/were all deeply rooted in the old hockey culture and are incapable of changing their spots.
