PGTs after a loss are far more ornery, combative, and overall insane than anything that ever happens in the off-season. Even GTs come pretty close. Compared to any thread in the off seasons, those threads are unreadable. "Oh no, Flames fans are fighting Flames fans over the Blue Jackets? Curse you off season!" Yeah, well, wait until the first losing streak and Flames fans start fighting Flames fans over all the things they hate about the Flames.

It's especially funny coming from people who go into Off Topic, where things are ready to get nuts 24/7/365.

I am one of the people who would be sad you stopped, but I will continue to advocate that you just join us in the nice warm light of the fire sometime... I think you were almost there during the Benning era.

Off topic usually isn't worth it, except for entertainment. Because it's rare that people get into virtual brawls over shows, movies or food.

And if that happens then... well, then I don't know what to say for humanity.

Back in the day the Canucks forum was awful. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. In general, I've never experienced more repugnant fans. I'm not saying it's all Canucks fans or even most. But the worst fans I ever experienced in person or online have been Canucks fans.

This place is pretty good. Not perfect but pretty, pretty good.

Used to be tons of Oilers and Canucks fans on here back in they. Oiler fans were mostly befuddled and incredulous that there were Flames fans here. That, or they complained about Calgary's brown grass and quality of retail malls.

From what I saw the main issue is forum.canucks.com is actually hosted on the officially owned domain of the Vancouver Canucks (redirects to nhl.com/canucks) and the decision was take it down outside of the control of the forum admins. I'm guessing it's due to maintaining an official PR stance or for liability concerns about what is said on the forums.

It's not the end of 2000s year BB code forums, they are moving to https://www.forumcanucks.com

I personally love the forum format and I hate that we've replaced them largely with social media chaos like X/Twitter, etc.

You can't because CP exists. The same is not so for fans of crappy hockey teams like the Canucks and Oilers.

Canucks forum was filled with unrealistic, almost cult-like worshippers of every move their management made--and they rabidly attacked anyone who suggested they knew better than Benning how to build a team. Good riddance. They can go abuse each other on whatever Canucks twitter is called now, at least until Elon finishes destroying it.

I'm old enough to remember when newsgroups were the main place for fans of teams to argue and exchange ideas--but that was dead a long time ago.

Offering them safe haven is suicide, they'll just become the alien trash of the League!

Why do awful, terrible fanbases get to enjoy such blessings

(Canucks 00s and early 10s, Oilers with McDavid)

At least the Canucks are finally getting theirs. But they need another 10 years of toiling and incompetence to begin to make up for the abhorrent levels of arrogance when they saw success several years back.

At least now it's just pathetic when they fire shots, because they're a dumpster fire themselves.

Sounds like CDC paste is going oiler PR route. Control the media and control the message.
