My favorite miss by the Flames... I had such high hopes for him... if you squinted you could see a Hossa in there when he played. Alas it wasn't to be but at least the Flames ended up with Rasmus as a result.

It seemed like from the very get-go that there were going to be problems as Sven didn't fit the mold of 'truculence.' Ultimately it worked out well for the Flames, but it could have been handled better by management.

You are assuming that nobody spoke to Baertschi up until his presser, which I would be shocked with. Baertschi was just extremely lazy. I specifically posted about how much he was sticking out like sore thumb on that team with everyone else working so hard and skating so hard while Baertschi just seemed to be floating, and got ripped for it at the time. I can't remember the last time I saw a prospect compete less, or skate less hard than Baertschi did. Gaudreau fit onto the 'truculent' team just fine the next season. Monahan was never truculent. Brodie was never truculent. These were all favourites of Hartley, and it was Hartley that got rid of truculent players McGrattan and Sarich.

In the presser, Burke didn't bring up truculence. He brought up the phrases "lack of compete" and "skates hard only in one zone, and even then not consistently". I also don't think Burke ripped him that hard - he was asked about it, and he gave his opinion. Feaster was forcing Baertschi into the lineup, and the instant that Feaster was fired, Baertschi was demoted. One can imagine that there were many conversations between Hartley (and/or the assistants) with the lack of effort by Baertschi before being ripped publicly, so I doubt this would have been the first attempt at getting something through to Baertschi.

No that's not mine.

Am I the only person who follows people on twitter? They posted about their dog all the time, name and all.

I have Zadorovs wife on instagram, its interesting to see them in their real life that they post and want people to see. Isn't that the entire point of social media. I also follow Curtis Lazar for some reason, I'm so creepy.

I once pm'd a calgarypuck poster about probating a will and I paid him for his "services".

Another person here who shall remain nameless, he's done my taxes, little did he know I had been reading his posts for years, following him one might call it. He never knew I was rubbing one out in front of that desk.

Another person I was following on here, got new tires from him...at cost plus 3%!!!

One poster here, I got employment legal advice from on several occasions. Fataer didn't know I had been reading his every post here.

Another guy was pretending to be a "pharmacist" so I 'probed' him about some high blood pressure meds.

Another poster pretended to be a flames player and me being the creep I am, read his posts, I know I know. From the content of his posts I was creepily reading, it sounded like Andrew Ference and I had just been in Canmore at Crazyweed and saw him there. I gave it a 5% chance I was right so being clever I said your wife is hot Andrew, and he replied "she is".

I probably worded that weird but I took my dog to a dog park and Svens wife happened to go to the same one and that was cool as a flames fan because our dogs fought and played.

CalgaryPuck: "Wow that's creepy." "I get why she blocked these weirdos."

It's interesting how a concept like social networking, which was designed to make it easier to socialize with more people, has devolved into a platform where it's now considered creepy to do anything other than quietly consume and leave.

Imagine waiting for a train downtown and someone shows you a picture of their dog... and instead of just quietly looking at the dog and then walking away, you have the audacity to ask about the dog... and the response you get is "f*** off, creep."

Such a weird planet we've turned into.

Sure, but vibe of the post changed a bit when you combine 'I never told her I knew who she was' and 'she's hot btw'.

And the 'how's baer' tweet could have come from anyone. How would she know that it was the random guy from the dog park that never let on that he know who she was?
Don't think us guys fully understand how much bull#### women get on twitter (especially post-elon), I'd be quick with the block button too.

Fair point, for sure. I've seen some of the crap (public and private) that women get on social media. I don't envy having to deal with that at all... but the post I was responding to just says, "if more than one person is asking about the dog then yeah I get why she blocked these weirdos". That infers that just asking about the dog makes someone a weirdo, and therefore blocking people for doing that makes perfect sense.

Again, though, I completely concede that women have to deal with so much garbage in their comments and messages, and I can understand how that would eventually temper them into preventative blocking. 100%.

(but also again, that wasn't what I was responding to)

Based on the rest of fotze's original post, she was probably right to block him even without additional context. Maybe there is more to this. Who knows. Maybe the dog passed away and she didn't want to be reminded.

From her end I can see why she may be creeped out as someone she doesn't know is asking about her dog by its name. There are so many weirdos out there that a female especially can't be too careful. From his perspective I don't really see anything creepy about asking how her dog was doing.

I saw fotzes post, read it, took it for what it was, and really no more, and would have easily paid it little further mind

Suggest you all do the same

The ensuing discourse has been pretty much cringeworthy

Good hell, I can’t wait for hockey to start and whoever has way the #### too much time on their hands stops pissing all over little posts

You mean 'Home Opener' and its going to be glorious.

Look...I wasn't on CP back in some of the 'Darker Days' like Young Guns, etc. This place is going to be like that island from 'Lord of the Flies' for the next 3 years and its going to be amazing.

We are going to eat each other alive!

The only remaining question, is which poster is going to be the Boar's Head on a pike?

Sharpen the pitchforks, fuel the torches and buckle up! We are in for a ride!

I shall take refuge in the Star Trek thread!

Mine too. I'll always have some fondness for Baertschi because he was the first prospect in years that fans could actually get excited about.

After Phaneuf, the Flames had year after year of drafting guys like Kris Chucko, Matt Pelech, Leland Irving, Greg Nemisz, Tim Erixon, etc...

With Shelbyville getting 3 first round picks in a row in the early 2010s, it was nice to have a high end prospect to potentially build around. He never fully materialized, but he had a good NHL career and hopefully he does well as a coach.
