No way Kostin goes back to Edmonton. They traded him because he wanted more than they could afford to pay a bottom-6 guy, and reportedly he has offers of higher money from the KHL too.

A lot of formerly highly rated prospects not getting QO's this year it seems.
Flames probably qualified their guys because they will end up with bigger roles on the Wranglers this season, at the least.

Not signing Kostin to a QO doesn’t mean he’s not getting a contract tomorrow from Detroit, just means it’s probably different terms and salary from the QO.

I do like Geekie, he's a useful 6'3" C, and he had a real upward-looking trajectory when he was with Carolina. He hasn't looked as promising with Seattle. Still not the greatest skater but he's serviceable, if not spectacular.

Agreed, for the right price he can be an effective player. He can more than hold his own in a fight as well. He actually got the better of Dennis Gilbert years ago. Not a heavyweight (not many left in the league anyways), but a solid physical player.
