Well let’s see

Eichel won the cup
Tkachuk and Bennett won a conference
Hall won a president’s trophy

There’s an argument for 5th being too high

When you are a top minute D on a horrible team….guaranteed….you will be a high minus player. Karlsson’s elite offensive production and better than good defensive skills warrant the Norris, IMO.

The Norris is usually for the highest point producing D.

100 points is impressive but he also isn't that great defensively and played for points.

I love offensive defenceman but the job of a defenceman is to play defence.

Hmmm…very true, if you’re talking about the 1950’s.

You think he's elite on defence?

I also have been talking about our team being more offensive and the D more involved not talking 1950s

I just seen him on a list by j fresh with the advanced stats that he would be on the 1st pair on the all terrible defensive team.

Reading comprehension is your friend.

“Karlsson’s elite offensive production and better than good defensive skills warrant the Norris, IMO.”

Better than good ……is not ELITE.

He was awful on defence but so good offensively that it completely offset the negative defensive stuff multiple times over. I actually don't know who ended up with the GAR lead at the end of the year.

You play mega minutes on a horrible team…guess what???…your defensive stats will suffer.

IMO, that he created that many ES points on a horrible team speaks volumes.

That's the thing how can you be so bad at one part of the game like at the bottom of the league and win this award.

The games I watched he didn't care about defending it was trying to pad stats.

Defeats the purpose of the award.

There are 6 players on the ice at ES.

He played with awful players on an awful team. They thought de fence was something you put around de yard.

How many games did you watch him play?

The ones against the Flames.

We can agree to disagree no point fighting over that.

I just think a poor defensive season regardless of teammates you should be better if you going to win best defenceman.

Mike Green is missing a few if this is the type of season you can have and win.

In the games I watched, Karlsson wasn't just bad defensively, he was possibly the worst defenseman I saw all year, and maybe in several years.

That's what I'm saying it's not a 50-60 war its 1% he was flat out bad.

The games vs the Flames he was clueless in the defensive zone made numerous turnovers and suddenly the puck crosses the blue line and he's engaged again.

Lol, Hall just got traded for nothing because he is less valuable to his team than not having him. But yeah, totally makes sense to give it to him over McDavid.

Also, the award is voted on before the playoffs so the non-clairvoyants didn't know about the others.

Look, #### McDavid, the Oilers are trash. But McDavid was the best player in the league and with out him the Oilers win Bedard. Putting him 5th is just some asshat trying to make a name for himself with his 15 minutes.

That asshat is doing a good job of making a name for himself. I already see a bunch of posts on Facebook and other social media from Oiler fans whining about it. It’s hysterical.

Why does it feel like the give the awards to the same people every year? Yes, I know there is some variation and these are suposed to be the best players, but the same players, and their teams, dont have great seasons one after the other. Can we have a bit of variety and make the awards ceremony slightly interesting.
