2023 NHL Free Agents
I hope the flames avoid any of the bigger name free agent signings this summer. It’s a fairly weak free agency made up of mostly complimentary players. Guys that can be big contributors in playoffs as depth players or even guys that can slide into the top six.
While I don’t think the flames have many prospects/young guys that are projected to be star players in the league… I do think the flames have lots young players/prospects that have real potential to be great complimentary pieces. Guys like Dube, Ruzicka, Zary, Pelletier, Duehr, and even Phillips I think could all be guys like that. Not the Kucherovs or Brayden Points but the Colemans/Goodrows/Comphers/Barbashevs.
So I would rather develop those players with opportunities on the flames than look to the free agency market to overpay for those types of players.
