Yup like the Flames had the oilers on the rope in game one and Markstrom #### the bed and that’s the end of story

Love with Gallant and Huska as assistants would be a nice start.
I like to dream too...

It feels like a major conundrum to me, where Conroy risks losing Love or Huska.
Just like Connie, after such significant investment / development, I can't see the organization parting with either. Love is so integral for continued player development, while Huska's performance has been solid and consistent.
Huska won three Memorial Cups, two with Iginla. Initially I thought they'd go with Huska, but if Connie makes the culture more of a braintrust, I can see Huska convinced to stay in an assistant role. But Sec214 crossing out his name gives me pause...so perhaps Tanguay is brought in as an assistant overseeing offense/powerplay, while Huska is replaced.
My current proposal sees Mitch Love becoming the Head Coach, flanked by a respected and trusted support system with Huska and Tanguay.

I'm not convinced that Love hasn't been propped up by wolf the last 2 seasons. I wonder if he wins coach of the year without him.
Teams in a tough spot. Rookie GM with a team that needs a good season. Do you add a rookie coach into that too? Or do you risk losing 1 or 2 top of huska and love.
I think id try huska as coach, mitch as assistant and a more veteran coach as the other assistant.

In my completely amateur uninformed opinion, Huska seems like the Jim Playfair/Geoff Ward type. Unheralded assistant that is integral to a successful team, but just doesn't have the disposition of a NHL head coach.

Kinda disagree they “need” a good season and that should factor into anything. What they need is a successful long term vision and you’re never going to have more leeway than first year first time GM. If you’re gonna try something novel now is the time to do it. First time NHL HC, some new players, shake those dice like a baby and see what you roll.

Is it possible that Gélinas, might want to push for coach or assistant coach?

Do not want any of Sutter's assistants back. Clean slate please.

Ideally, I'd like Love as an AC and groomed into the HC position, but I doubt he would take that gig when he knows he's on the radar for a HC gig.

Just heard a bit of a Conroy interview today.
I like to see our top players play more. I looked down many times last season down a goal late in a game and out rumbles Lucic and Lewis and we can't do that.
I added the last part about Lucic and Lewis but the point still stands.

Could also be Greg Gilbert! All right!

One of Conroy's first practices with the Habs, he pinged Roy off the temple and it started a huge brawl.

GG **for ~2 years, Love, Brunette, Laviolette (since the Flames have reached out)
Any of those options would be fine.

Although I would like the fact that he would push the snot out of the players, he goes against most of, if not everything that Conroy mentioned yesterday in his presser. I don't see it happening. This franchise desperately needs to aim for someone that can possibly be here long term behind the bench.

My reservation with Love is that didn't the Wranglers play the same system as the Flames? I haven't saw a Wranglers game, so maybe someone who has can chime in... I'm so tired of boring hockey, I would want a coach who has had success with exciting uptempo hockey.
