I voted Conroy. This team needs some positivity. I didn't know everyone on the list. I thought Tulsky was a Russian poet, or premier ballerina.

I voted Conroy, but forgot that ahead of him, I'd love to see Dubas be the next GM.

I voted Conroy but if Dubas was available I would be fine bringing him in.

Voted Conroy and I think he deserves the position. But after all he’s done as an assistant, maybe the fact that he’s not the interim GM means he doesn’t have the confidence of the owner(s), and probably won’t get the job.

Tulsky. All day.
Love Conroy and would hope he remains, but this franchise needs a fresh outlook with strategic foresight.

I voted other because I haven't really looked thoroughly at all the candidates and while I would be okay with Conny I feel as with Treliving he may be too attached to some players and prospects. My preference is for fresh eyes to go over the roster and prospect base without any emotional attachment and make cold, hard changes required with 6 key players a year away from free agency. If Dubas becomes available he would probably be my first choice as he's the right age and has experience in a Canadian market.

Yeah I'm a fan of Conroy as well but we need a fresh perspective on the team and players not someone who had a hand in building it.
Kind of like when Burke came in and did his analysis and quickly fired Jay Feaster.

I feel like Dubas would be the least likely candidate should he become available. Can’t see Edwards going in that direction.

Burke’s best move here. It was Feaster who pretty much single-handedly steered Flames’ into a decline.

I voted Conroy, because this is logical. He’s been an AGM for close to 7 years now, so well-trained. He knows hockey. He should be able to judge scout’s recommendations on talented kids. He is universally liked by players and agents. He is a loyal ex-Flame. He absolutely deserves a chance to get the job.
Questions to be answered: will he have the strength to go against Sutter’s requests and opinions, if push comes to shove and is he a shrewd trade negotiator?

Carolina has been amongst the best at managing assets. The Flames have been amongst the worst.
I get that Conroy's continuity has value.
But logically speaking, Tulsky has been around a management that has exceeded expectations.
The Hurricanes have made 40 draft picks in the past 4 years despite being one of the best teams in the league in that time.
It's insane how effective they've been.
Their contract situation is also great.
From the Hurricanes' page:
"Eric Tulsky is in his eighth season with the Hurricanes and his second as assistant general manager. As assistant general manager, Tulsky is involved in all player personnel decisions, oversees pro scouting and the team's hockey information department, and assists with player contract negotiations, salary cap compliance, and other hockey-related matters."
He clearly deserves a lot of the credit.

The athletic had a great article with Tulsky last year. Talked about a lot of different things and working with a smaller staff and how things have changed with technology and video and being able to do the work that way.
A lot of the complaints here goaltending and pro scouting he touched on and how they use advanced stats to look at things.
He did acknowledge goaltending is the hardest position to predict using stats it's just a tough position.
Seems like a very smart guy. My only issue would be if he sees the game the same way as Sutter because of how Carolina plays I haven't looked into of their advanced stats show if they are a dangerous team b

Who is Tulsky?
I admittedly don't know much about most of the list.

I'm not sure if it's behind the Athletic pay wall or not

Conroy because he has the chops, and it would be a big loss to the Flames if he left.
Would be OK with Dubas also.

On After Burner, Rhett mentioned that we don't really know how other teams operate. There isn't a template job description for AGMs that every team has to use, and on some teams, the AGMs have a lot of managing power and get paid salaries on par with GMs. Some AGMs are probably happy in their roles and aren't going to accept just any GM position because they want the spotlight or additional responsibility. There is also a good chance that a team like Carolina isn't going to give permission to another team to talk to Tulsky if he is under contract for a few more years and they consider him a critical part of their management team. Waddell also isn't getting any younger and Carolina could be happy to pay Tulsky on par with a GM if they see him as the heir.
Personally, I like the idea of a GM being an ex-player who understands the locker room and chemistry, with the main AGM being more of the academic and math guy. There are probably examples of both working or not working however.
It kind of sucks that the Pens are looking for a GM at the same time though, because the best candidates will likely want to go there first. It reminds me of when we were looking for a coach at the same time at least 3 other teams were, and once all the best candidates signed, we scooped up Gulutzan.

Murray Edwards would make the best GM (said nobody except him, ever).
Mr. Meddle needs to be uninvolved.
