You are judged by your decisions and your record. The two contracts alone have wrecked the team for years.
The team won two playoff rounds under him. Not a stellar resume by any measure.

Hey, I’ll take the funny, ultimately meaningless trade over a dumb desperation trade. The team is still ####ed but at least I got a laugh out of this trade deadline

How is he supposed to stop Markstrom from completely ####ting the bed?
He went into the season with the #2 goalie in the league last season and now he's not even in the top 50.
Not Treliving's fault at all.

Firstly there are 4-5 free agents you're after you can get for no picks. Two you've made a habit out of taking advantage of teams needing to dump cap - you got Burns and Pacioretty for free, why pay? Toffoli has more goals and points than any forward who becomes a free agent this summer, and yes, that includes players like Patrick Kane. So, if you're Don Waddell, you're just not going to find a forward via UFA who gives you what Toffoli does, and you sure as #### won't find one at $4.25m.
I'd imagine Toffoli is going to have a really solid market, simply because he's a RH winger who puts up good numbers and vastly outperforms his contract. And that's before you think about negotiating an extension or the Flames retaining salary. Now we don't know if the Flames will even want to move him, but I'd be shocked if the market weren't there to do it.

One year does not a contract make
So many knee jerk reactions
Still plenty of time for the “two contracts” to turn it around.

You're just a whiny, angry fan that has to find someone to blame whether they deserve it or not lol
They've lost 24 one goal games mostly due to a goalie who went from a 0.922 save % to a .889 save % and you want to fire the GM because you are a simpleton.

Before we write Marky off, why not give him another season to see if this season was an aberration.

I can understand this line of thinking but don’t agree with it. His apparent inaction to correct an issue that has sewered the season leads me to believe either he is incapable of doing anything or not empowered to do so. Burning a season because of Markstrom’s turning into Hiller doesn’t seem like a solid plan to me

Nah, there are never a lot of UFAs on the level of what the Flames will have on offer (if they do choose). A year of Hanifin or Lindy at that salary is a lot better than overpaying a UFA and having to offer more years than you care to.
The other option is to see how the season goes. If goaltending improves the Flames are almost automatic for the POsz. If they don’t then yeah, trade the pending UFAs.

I never said to write him off. I just said to stop blaming the GM
Goalies are fricken voodoo. He could be a top goalie again next season easily.

Especially since his partner just gave birth and he has played better after it (although too short of an example to call a trend). He seemed distracted, maybe something non-hockey was bothering him. Coincidence? Who knows.

So you have a race horse that is now lame. You ride that horse into the ground and then blame either the horse or the ground you ran it into? Brilliant.

You are on a roll with your personal attacks. Why? Feel better now? FFS, what is wrong with this board?
As for "Trevliving Haters" - I have long stated that Treliving has shown himself to be a mediocre GM, as this team's record has been mediocre under his watch. He has yet to build a consistent playoff team. That is his job.
I guess this makes me a hater, whiny, angry, pathetic, or 'simple folk'.

We've already been through this stupid argument where Treliving should have magically produced another #1 goalie from out of his arse.
I'm not going down that road with you again.

Goaltending is a part of the story. An extra save would be great, but a dreadful PP and some fairly substandard offensive performances from our forwards are part of this as well. Blame has to be spread more evenly.

To a degree, as he's the one who wears the face of it all publicly. But I do think Ownership has a huge factor to what team a GM can or can't build.
