how many 21 year old goalies in the league right now though? Like in a starter or backup role not someone who had to come in for a game or two due to injury.

hint Spencer Knight

that's it

Regardless of how good he is, and he is freaking good, calling him up while the Flames are struggling to make the playoffs is too high an opportunity cost. If he wins, great, but then the expectations of the fans go through the roof. If he loses, it hurts the team he wants to make and play for, and likely causes a bit of a headcase for him. Let him crush the AHL this season and re-evaluate next season.

Or Markstrom gets injured, we roll with Vladar and Wolf, and everyone is happy.

Until our shooting percentage is better than bottom-10 in the league, leave Wolf in the AHL.

Our scoring problem is, IMO, worse than our goaltending problem.

8th in the league in 5v5 goals.

We have a powerplay problem, but the overall scoring issues are bit overblown.

I dont disagree though, until there is an injury you dont call him up right now.

I get that. And it’s not a conclusion, it’s an opinion.

Also, I’m not just watching the saves. I’m watching the goals he lets in and try to extrapolate at an even higher level.

Pretty confident he can adjust though. I’m very bullish on him but like nearly all goalies that have made a sustained career at a high level, I’d prefer (not concluded) to let him get more reps.

Elite players don’t play 100 AHL games.

Wolf is trending to be elite. He has been the best goalie in his league every year for the last 4 years.

If he was called up, it would take him 3-5 games to adjust to the level and then he would be a top 10 goalie, guaranteed.

Since you can see the future, could you please let me know which will be the next cryptocurrency to skyrocket? Cheelee? BlueMove?

Most of my thoughts have already been mentioned, so I don't have much to add except this:

*ahem*

What a mother####ing homerun of a 7th round pick. Whatever scout pushed for him at that pick should just be handed the keys to the GM's office now. Insane.

Keep Wolf in the A unless there is an injury. Would rather him continued success in the A this season and go for a deep playoff run there. If the flames are out of it and its the last game of the season, give him the start to reward him and then send him back down

If even Sutter was in a panic I doubt he'd ask for this to happen. Sutter likely doesn't expect this group to do anything worthwhile this year.

Wolf needs to become a champion and some prospects need to do the same to prove they are ready for the next step. No one is standing out right now really....I hear Vladar and Toffoli and have barely watched this year and know nothing . But the bits and bites I do hear are that this year for the Flames is a complete wash.

I hope we see the wranglers go deep and have this city support them .

Let Wolf finish whats been started. It's exciting .

I would not be surprised to see Wolf play some games if Vladar struggles with elevated role.

Tomas Vokoun (9th rounder), played 126 games in the minors (91 games in the AHL and 35 games in the ECHL). Played his first NHL game as a 20 year old as an emergency call up, but didn't see his next game until 3 seasons later.

I'd say he was pretty elite.

Why not? Give him a game or two.

Markstrom is done mentally.

They don't deserve to have the chance to #### up Wolf

Get this guy some proper coaches that can help transition him to the nhl level

And get Sigalet the #### out of here already

He's failed for a decade to do anything other than oversee every goalie that rolled through here nosedive their career

These would be much darker times without wolf on the horizon

The problem is short term we have a markstrom sized boulder standing between us and enjoying that high end goaltending

And I want to see where Vladar's trajectory goes as well, no need to jettison him prematurely

I just pray another GM has more faith in a markstrom rebound than we do

How many 21 year old goalies have won 3 straight(soon to be 4) goalie of the year awards and didn't get a sniff at the NHL?

Hint...none

My fear is the Flames will over cook the kid in the minors, Ken Dryden once said goalies need to grow with the competition in order to maximize their potential.

He needs to be in the NHL at the very least next season.

It’s funny our prospects get ranked near the bottom yet our AHL team is number 1.

The question of whether Wolf is ready is only half of this. The other is whether you want to put him in this situation.
