Hopefully they actually allow for some roster turnover this off season. Nothing against Ritchie or Lewis for example, I actually like both players, but eventually we have to put some faith in the prospects and let depth players go.

Duehr is oft-compared to Garnett Hathaway (similar c.v. and playing style).

I think Duehr changed his narrative ... from AHL energy guy to someone that could be a fourth line guy at the NHL level.

Big step for him. He'll be back.

I think they should explore waiving and sending Mackey down. I'd rather see Gilbert here full time, or maybe even give someone like Meloche/DeSimone a chance with the big club.

No one eats popcorn like Mackey, so I think his role is secure. Sit down Stone right next to him.

Hathaway took a few seasons to 'get it'. It wasn't until his last season in Calgary that Hathaway was able to put in a consistent effort every game. That's what a 4th line guy has to do. Duehr seems to be turning that corner and realizing that the previous game means nothing - he has to put in that consistent 4th line energy effort every single shift of every single night. If he does, he becomes a valuable piece to the team, and an everyday NHL'er.
