Flames have outplayed the Oilers badly 3 times this season they just seem to not get a break against the Oilers.
Honestly though refs and the league are my biggest concern against them.

they seriously need to wean Vladar on to a bigger workload in case markstrom isn't up to the task
I do think this team is getting more and more comfortable grinding out tight games and could be well set up to make life hell for most potential opponents in the west
but they will need the goaltending to be solid and win the match up more often than not
if markstrom is off again, you want that trust in vladat to draw in for a series

I think we'll get in, but I think we'll probably get rolled in the first round.

The whole division is weak anything can happen I don't count Calgary out, but I'm not so certain they have a 60 minute game night after night to win the first round. Guess it depends who they meet and how they play. Hoping there's enough playoff experience we have the players to find another gear. It's still January at the moment they have an easy schedule for the remainder of the season. Everything will unfold but I'm optimistic they will get in.

Moneypuck is ridiculously optimistic about the Flames. I don't know how this site has done historically. Other odds sites I've looked at have the Flames in the 70% range.

I feel like there are a bunch of teams below us that are dealing with significant injuries in Colorado and St. Louis that can pass us. So it'll come down to Oilers, Kings and Flames to battle things out and I just don't have faith that this group can keep it going and find consistency.
If they do make it, they're out in 4 or 5. Especially if they face Dallas or Vegas.

75% is probably accurate
Surprised how many Flames fans said no, until I looked at the voters lol...who's who of the pessimists with a couple Oiler fans sprinkled in

I voted Yes... but I honestly don't really care this season. They are mediocre, and worst of all they are brutally boring to watch. The game last night against Nashville was a one goal game, should've been a nail biter but I did not give a ####... it was so boring. I barely watch the games anymore.

Wild, Seattle, Vegas, ect. are not out of the woods
especially if the Avs and St. Louis go on a massive run they are beating the others.
Flames need to play slightly above .600 and they will make it, people get too focused on the teams. Point totals are what decides it at the end of the day and they are pretty predictable.

I voted yes, but it is not the most positive assertion I’ve ever made. There is something up with the chemistry in this team and no amount of mixing of the ingredients seems to work for any length of time.
I should look it up, because I could be wrong, but our biggest winning streak is what, three games? If we can keep things tight so a big chunk of our losses continue to come in OT, we’ll make it.
But boy, we have had something like thirty years of almost unbroken playoff hell and this is by far the least confident I’ve ever felt about our chances of doing anything when we get there.

Flames sit exactly where they deserve to in the standings. I don’t see Vegas, Seattle, or the kings falling out of a divisional spot. That leaves the flames, oilers, Avs, blues , preds battling it out for the final 2 wildcard spots.
Oilers have hung around while missing a top 6 forward for over a month and a half, so I expect them to improve a bit in the latter half.
Avs getting key guys back as well.
I voted that the flames make it, which I’m unclear about. They aren’t a good team, they are precisely mediocre, so the playoff wildcard spot is basically 50/50 at this stage.

I almost think they will be better off making it as not a top seed
Last 3 playoff series they have been heavy favorites which IMO is just more pressure. Also I wouldn't want to win the division with the Avs lurking.

and the Wild? Knights have two more points than the kings and lost their best player (and have looked like it)

They are luck-sacs but fact remains their 2 game breakers are miles ahead of ours, so far we don't even have a true game breaker

*on the powerplay
that is why I mentioned the reffing...we didn't see normal playoff reffing last season which was a massive benefit to the Oilers...even the 4 on 4s after every scrum
McDavid is barely above water 5 on 5

I didn't see the broadcast but picking December 3 makes it seem like they were looking for data to rationalize an argument vs. using data to inform a conclusion.
I can't think of any reason why a team's record since the third of December is more important than any other day.
