I actually don't think Markstrom was that bad. But when you are paid $6 million, you have to play better than the other goalie consistently. Not just occasionally.

They outshot the Jets 35-25. Clearly one goaltender was better. It’s not even debatable. I’m not hanging this one all on goaltending as this game was a very typical loss for this edition of the Flames. Lack of offense, poor discipline, and the 2nd best goaltender on the ice.

This has been my issue all season, his fundamentals have been crap. Not square to the shooter and small in his net.
It doesn’t necessarily lead to “soft” goals, but means he’s not making any of those saves where you get a bit lucky on a deflection like Gagner’s and the puck just hits the goalie
It’s remarkable that the team is as close to a playoff spot as they are with a .981 PDO which is bottom 5. The only teams with worse PDO are Anaheim, Chicago, Columbus, and Montreal and three of those teams are favourites for Bedard right now

If we could get Kylington back, would love to ship Hanifin out for a goal scorer. He is overrated.

Close game but some concerning patterns. Third goal was weaker but once again no real finish and some bad defense. They are on the wrong side of 1 goal games which is not great.

Markstrom is slow moving side to side on the winning goal I'd like to see him set, gives a chance to make the save.

Shots are not all created equal
There is also luck involved like bounces, posts, ect.

Of course it is. The 35 shots weren't all breakaways. And the Zadorov goal was the worst one given up tonight. Save percentage can be extremely misleading, like tonight. Both goalies were good.

Is there a more negative-value contract than Kylington's this year? I'm sure whatever his issue is is serious and unfortunate, but the results for the fan are what they are.

he's paid to be elite
and he's typically given the luxury of having less of a workload than the guy at the other end
at the same time there is usually a good number of high danger chances in that handful of shots
I don't blame him, but at the same time I can't honestly say he's playing quite to the level he's being paid to be at

Just fix the PP already.
They can't score on PP and are giving the other team all the momentum.
