And then a homophobic remark? Yikes, this is getting ugly over nothing. I'm truly stunned at what's transpired in this thread with you.

I’d also welcome Koepka back, but man he rubs me the wrong way in the Netflix series. Big baby.

I'd welcome any of those guys back for sure. At the end of the day, I want to see the best talent compete to win.

LIV has some of the talent part, but none of the competition part.

So I know Rahm won and yadda yadda he is on a roll etc etc... but I think Max Homa is my new favourite player. That dude rules.

I actually thought more of Brooks after the netflix episode, personally. Before I thought he was an arrogant ######, but now I see that he has a unique drive to be the best and actually gets really down on himself to a crippling degree. If

It's an off week for the PGA tour, but I might check out the Honda Classic on the Korn Ferry tour.

Haven't watched the show but that's some real cognitive dissonance going on in Brooks' head. He has a drive to be the best but chased the money guaranteeing he will never be the best. Nobody cares about the liv tour or any of the players in it.

It makes more sense if you watch it.

The golf he was playing at the time and the injuries he was struggling through was messing up his non-golf life in a way that wasn't healthy. He didn't have any confidence of getting his golf game or his life back on track when he made the move.

The liv golf tour is objectively terrible. Even if you can look the other way from where the money is coming from. it's a state sponsored organization with no care of making a return on the billion+ they are spending to poach from a tour that's a sustainable organization. The competition is about as legitimate as pro figure skating, tennis exhibitions, and pro track events.

They've admitted in court they make basically no revenue, and Greg Norman's answer to that is they will sell make 100s and 100s of millions selling merch because all the kids think liv is cool. I happen to know a lot of teenage jr golfers, and can tell you than not one of them would wear a liv shirt in public if it was given to them for free.

All that said, I have some understanding of why guys like Koepka and others who were doubting their game, or getting older would take the money. They have to accept though that they gave up on real competitive golf.

Cam Smith is the one I don't really get though. Maybe he just listened to the wrong people who wanted a piece of guaranteed money?

That's why you need to watch it to get what happened. He went to such a dark place and lost so much confidence that he truly believed he couldn't compete anymore.

I think that people underestimate how much confidence or lack thereof impacts professional athletes. For the rest of us, it's easy to think "you're so amazing, how can you not see that!?", but if they don't actually believe that deep down, it's impossible for them to perform well. Seeing Brooks in that episode gave me a new understanding of that poor guy. I did laugh when his wife was talking about clothes and he's just like "I could only think about my swing". That was pretty funny, and somewhat relatable!

Wishes for LIV death aside, with this brutal Honda field and LIV being on TV this weekend, I'm going to check out a little bit just to check in on some old favourites.

CW will broadcast from 11am-4pm calgary time on Saturday and Sunday.

The Honda Classic field could benefit from a shotgun start. Just get it over with and at least maximize the number of shots people can see in a short amount of time. Learn from LIV to reduce the amount of time needed to watch tournaments people don't care about to maximize the viewing experience.

Maybe that's a hybrid formula the PGA Tour could go with. Elevated events and majors keep the traditional format. Everything else goes to 3 day shotgun starts.

It's not really possible with a full field event. I don't understand the benefit either. All holes on the course are full most of the day. There's a lot on the line in terms of status and money for the middle of the pack on these non-elevated events, so I don't see it making sense to make it a shorter tournament or smaller field.

The non-elevated events aren't going to be great for TV ratings regardless, especially when sandwiched in a stretch of 4 elevated events in 5 weeks. That's the trade off of going with elevated events.

LIV Golf stars have scored a significant victory in their rebellion against the PGA Tour.

LIV Golf players will be eligible to compete in all four major tournaments this season after The PGA of America issued a green light Wednesday.

I can understand the other 3 but why would the PGA Championship allow these guys?

I think it's great. Honestly, what's the big deal if these guys go play in these other tournaments through the year and then come to play the majors? I personally don't care either way and just like to see the best players at the majors tee it up.

I'm wondering if the PGA tour and it's better players are thinking this is a perfect olive branch as it allows them to play against them and say "we've made an attempt to form a truce with them" while these LIV players continue to free fall in the OWGR and become less and less eligible for majors, with each passing year.

PGA championship isn't related to the PGA tour, if that is your confusion?

I was good with the two Opens allowing them as they should remain open.

I didn't really care if the PGA championship or Masters did as they kind of set their own rules.

It looks like only 4-5 liv players can play in all of the majors, and another handful have status in one or two. That number will likely dwindle in the next year or two.
