It sounds like the owners and upper management were pretty miffed with the way the negotiations went and felt like Gaudreau F-ed over the organization by leading them on and not making his intentions clear.

I'd imagine green lighting a tribute video up the chain of command would be fairly difficult. These videos are probably somewhat expensive to put together too. I'll be surprised if we see one.

With the amount of emotional investment, and not to mention money we spend on tickets, jerseys, dome beers etc… If i’m childish for being upset that the face of the franchise left us high and dry then put me in a time out!

I'll cheer his video tribute. Won't boo, too much negative energy.

I was over Johnny a long time ago.

Yeah, the guy who sits 5th in franchise points, right behind Al MacInnis, doesn't deserve some sort of video tribute. Okay guys. These videos take like an afternoon to put together, they're not labour intensive.

I'm going to boo him but let's not pretend he wasn't an incredibly important player on our team for almost a decade.

Personally, I'm not all that jilted by his leaving.

It happens.

I was also a little worried about how he would age given his lack of height so they may have dodged a bullet (and re chambered another one!)

Hoping he gets a warm tribute for the video, and then I'll just listen to see what happens from there.

If I can get over my divorce I can certainly get past Gaudreau leaving

How about no reaction at all? No booing or cheering. Sitting quietly during and after the tribute video just like any other break. I would find that pretty amusing - Gaudreau will find it confusing.

Leaving is fine.

Leaving the way he did and his actions afterwards is what was the FU to the fans and franchise.

That’s my view, but I tend to boo opposing players.

The poll could do with a ‘nothing’ option.

I’d be respectful for the tribute, but before and after, he’s just an opposition player to me.

No real issues with him leaving.

He was an amazing flame, one of the most dynamic players, worth the price of admission, this franchise has ever drafted, developed and watched.

I'd cheer for him if I was at the some.

Boo any and everyone on the other team. And never cheer for an opponent—unless you’re cheering their failure after a harrowing defeat!

I miss that glorious little bastard so much , Loved watching him as a Flame

Standing "O" and then boo the hell out of him him out of respect ,hear me out ...it's a healthy release

I don't think I would do it repeatedly over years but the first game for sure

a cathartic release purge him from my mind as a BJ and remember his time in CGY

I think this thread demonstrates the difference in how seriously people take things

I thought the idea of cheering the tribute video and then booing the player during play, mere seconds later, comes across as lighthearted fun.

You were good when you were here - “yay”. Now you’re on the team I’m not cheering for - “boo”.

But some people really seem to take it more seriously. I myself just can’t relate to that.

Yeah the booing is purely about gamesmanship and fun. If you are genuinely angry/hurt and that's your motivation to boo...well...I dunno what to say about that.

haha fans can act like jilted girlfriends but the Flames organization is not going to do that. regardless of how individuals high up in CSEC feel, they're going to take the high road publicly. if they actually were so petty as to not give one of the most electric Flames of all time a tribute, then we should all reconsider what we think of the people running our favorite sports team.

Probably not. They already have people on the payroll that make content for them, they have all the footage, and probably takes that person no more than a couple hours total to put together. And they're not being paid extra for it, it's just their job that day.

It's funny how booing him and calling him Judas is childish according to some but having a special place in your heart and thanking him for all the wonderful memories of 2 series victories somehow isn't.

Gaudreau doesn't care about you or our city...he played here because the Flames drafted him and paid him over 50M to play a kid's game win or lose.

It's all childish, it's a game
