The hourly wage is set to reflect it, full time flight crew get paid for approx 80 hours per month (pilots and FAs). It started that way forever ago (I assume when Wilbur hired Orville). But if it was just changed to hours from check in to check out the hourly wage would drop, but at least then some people wouldn’t feel like they aren’t getting paid for doing all the pre and post flight stuff.

Firstly, I assume their hourly wage reflects that.

Why is it sarcasm? NFL and NBA both pull it off. It’s become a tradition. Especially in the NBA. It’s considered a privilege to be selected to play on Christmas Day.
