Being good in the room is one of the most overrated things in the league. The room doesn't win games the product on the ice does. Lucic provides nothing and he can be good in the room from the press box.

I don't see that as a problem for a fourth line player.
It just seems like a cherry picked stat where Lucic is still bad. Amongst 4th liners in that stat category, he would be well below average. Notable names below him in that category that I would take over him would include - Kaprizov, Terry, Nugent Hopkins, Hughes, Stutzle, Crosby, Suzuki, Bennett, Berniers, caulfield, Schwartz, Duchene, guentzel, forsberg, kyrou, Tkachuk, Konecny.

Even on the Flames he is the worst 4th liner in that category, the only players worse than him are Kadri, Dube, Mangiapane.

Unless its Anne.

She can probably skate better than most of our current 4th line. Maybe even throw a hit or two as well.

On a young, skilled team like the Devils he may have some value as a leader and physical presence. If his leadership is invaluable to a veteran team like the Flames then I would argue things have gone badly wrong for this roster.

Also much easier on the eyes. This team has been hard to watch this season. I like where you are going here.

If a prospect blows you away in camp you try and fit them in on the top three lines.

If that doesn't happen you break camp with the established players and hope that a prospect is ready when someone gets hurt.

We haven't seen the injury yet, but some kids are progressing very well.

What isn't practical (or a necessity) about all that?
They issue is Sutter plays the 4th line more at the expense go the top two lines. If he was limiting them to 5-6 minutes a game it might be ok not to have prospects or players who provide offensive punch. When they get the amount of ice time they get they sort of have to produce something.

Even worse is Sutter doesn't play match ups and many times the pluggers get caught against the other teams top player's.

Is your hypothesis that guys like Coleman, Kadri, Backlund, Huberdeau, Toffoli, Lindholm and Lewis don’t need Lucic to show them how to be professionals?

Pretty much yes. If the veteran players on the roster haven’t figured that out by now, this team is in big trouble.

Team just needs an extra save right now. They’re clearly not as potent offensively compared to last season, so if they can’t score themselves out of a trouble, then their goaltenders will have to be solid to spectacular most nights.

This team will basically define the idea that this is a 3-2 league this season. Almost every game seems to be a nail bitter and with the stakes seemingly so high this early into the season, this could be one of the most stressful seasons in the history of this franchise.

One more point, two fewer goals all for 3.5 times the salary.

I dont think we could afford her wages, I doubt she even gets out of bed for less than $20M.

He's a fourth line player. xGA60 is king in my mind. You don't give players 7 minutes if you expect them to run the show in offensive and high danger splits.

If they do that they're no longer 4th line players.

You hope they fill a special teams roll on the PK, add some leadership and don't burn you five on five defensively.
If you’re last on the team in GF%, xGF% and HDCF it’s not just that you’re not good offensively.

He’s provided nothing

When scoring 3 or more goals, the Flames are 10-2-2 this year.

When scoring 2 or fewer, they are 0-8-1.

So the path to success is very straightforward for this group. Find a way to put 3 in.

It’s a 3-2 league.
