Its funny with all the nonsense about Valimaki in the other thread these guys outplayed him by a country mile in the AHL last season.
Same posters complaining about the Flames giving him away are afraid of these guys getting ice time.

Its not even just that though, we saw it in the playoffs, once Tanev was out this team was completely up the creek without a paddle.
I dont know what it is, but its not a coincidence. Take Tanev out of this lineup and its like they immediately have idea what they're doing.
Its baffling.

most of the team shares one brain cell, but Tanev has his own. So when he's in the lineup they have two brain cells

These guys need to get out on the road. Can't remember such a home heavy start to the schedule like this. So hopefully some new surroundings can get them to shake this funk.

Tanev is the defencemen whisperer. Just like Backlund is for the forwards.

Yup. Lot of offensive zone starts is my guess for this duo as the home team will have last change. Plus back-to-back games and three in four nights, can ride the top two pairings only so much over these games.

They went 7 and 0 on a homestead last year. Enough with the excuses.

It is not an excuse, and it is not the same thing. The team that went 7-0 at the Saddledome last February had already been playing together for four months, and they played those seven games in a span of 13 days. The Flames most recent eight-game homestead lasted 18 days, and featured several multi-day breaks.

According to Urban dictionary, there's 4 ways to define cheese.
https://www.urbandictionary.com/defi...=cheese&page=2
Which cheese do you want?
1) A solid food prepared from the pressed curd of milk, often seasoned and aged.
For your Game day nachos.
2) An important person. Often used in the phrase big cheese.
When #10 scores
3) Slang term for Money.
When the team comes out with a W
4) A mixture of the drugs in Tylenol PM and heroin
When the team comes out with a L

Sportsnet is doing its confusing presentation of its games today. The Flames-Islanders game is not a Rogers Monday Night game. It is a regional game with its sponsors, but, promoted to national presentation.

If Mackey plays like he did last game tonight I’m pretty sure he won’t be around much longer.
Since Huberdeau and Lindholm aren’t generating any offence we aren’t scoring much more than 3 goals on any given night. We can’t have a dman giving up multiple golden opportunities. We can’t score our way out of those.

Way to miss the forest for the trees... yet again... I'll explain it one more time, Valimaki is very much not struggling this season in Arizona, despite struggling both with the Flames and with the Heat last season. This would suggest there's a difference in the way he's being treated over there vs how he was treated here.

I doubt they get more than 7 minutes.

it's just night and day with tanev
at 40 percent he almost turned around that Oilers series as the Flames tightened up their d considerably when he stepped in .. like a tanev halo-effect , even though markstrom was still leaky . and if the coleman goal counted they could have rode the win and made it a very close series . it was just too little too late unfortunately

Doesn't seem like anyone knows.
Other than him being out, I haven't seen any mention about what's wrong. It definitely seems a little strange.
