Lol, what? Flames were the better team for the majority of that game. The Makstrom flub was bad, but that wasn't what cost us the game. Oilers were very fortunate to score on a lucky bounce to take the lead, and that was basically the difference. It sucks, but that's hockey sometimes.

I believe that Huberdeau-Kadri-Mangiapane will eventually be the top line, it's just a matter of when.

So many are asking to break up the first line but how do you do that? We have to keep the second line together for sure, so who replaces who on the first line? I only see a trade for a top 6 forward to make it make sense.

Not sure how much blame can be placed on Huberdeau.
He only played 16 minutes, less than guys like Dube in the first period, and was clearly being managed carefully for whatever reason.

Oilers had 3 expected goals and scored 3 goals, flames had 3.6 and scored 2. Markstrom was not a positive

A lot of shots from the points and the perimeter. You're not scoring on those unless you're shooting at Markstrom.
Shots were 14-5

Scoring chances were 9-9

So Flames didn’t generate a ton of quality but if Markstrom doesn’t let in that soft goal we’re probably talking about how the Flames shut it down in the third and allowed nothing.

That should have been a 3-1 or 3-2 win for the Flames but Skinner saved a goal above expected, Markstrom allowed a goal above expected, and all of a sudden it turns into a 3-2 loss.

We were at the stamps game and my son checked the score of the flames game and saw that Hyman scored, he referred to Hyman as co-owner of the Flames, much like Aaron rodgers owns the bears. thought it was funny but sadly correct. If Hyman only played the Flames, he would be a first ballot hall of famer

I'm glad Markstrom got the start so it could be confirmed he still has the Oiler yips..

I know he otherwise played well, and it was not just him responsible for the late collapse. I just have zero confidence in him when we play those greaseballs. Vladar next time plz

oilers got good because they had number 1 picks handed to them, just like every win is handled to them. We play them only 1 more on dec 27, we will be so far ahead in the standings by then it won't matter

Not just tonight. His last 12 games against them. Just terrible.

I saw a difference of a team playing Thursday night and one that played Tuesday.

I don’t know why but Markstrom just always let’s in a softy against these idiots.

Okay Markstrom is getting WAAAAY too much flack for that game. There were 18 guys in front of him with some largely iffy play by most. Come on…

Where were Huberdeau, Kadri, Coleman, Weegar, Tanev, Mangiapane, Dube was average… like give me a break. Why didn’t the dman beat McDavid back to the puck on the rim around?

Markstrom was fine. Team game.

Flames we’re the better team. People are going to be pissy because it’s Edmonton but if we play like that every night and those clowns play like that we’ll win a lot more than we lose and they’ll lose a lot more than they win. Sure, Markstrom let in a stinker. It happens. Shake it off and move on.

We were a better team all night and we’ll continue to be the better team throughout the season.

I'm as mad as anyone, but do you need to have Marky's name in the thread title? Classless.

That may see better production form the top line, but overall, not much difference to total offence.

I think it is time for Sutter to place more trust in Vladar. We need to see more of him, if only to see if he can provide the goods to beat Edmonton because they own Markstrom and that can’t be up for debate any more.

Not even mad both teams didn't play great and the Flames haven't even played 10 games this season. Overall they need to play on the road to gel as a team. Markstrom played well, and penalty killing was overall pretty good.

Was highly entertaining game

Anyway this is why I don’t trash talk opponents, especially opponents that seem to have our number. Sutter must know what’s going on here and hopefully he has some ideas to turn our fortunes against this team but it’s annoying as hell right now. It does seem something needs to be done with the balance of the top two lines to get Lindholm and Huberdeau going.

I think it's a pretty big stretch to say Vladar would have only allowed one goal that game
