Wolf had one great year in the AHL I don't think that makes him a Superstar. Just like one great season didn't make Tkachuk generational all of a sudden.

I don't think this changes anything with regards to Wolf. If he really forces their hand at some point during the next two years, Vladar can easily be traded with this kind of contract.

Let's see if he can have back-to-back solid years or if he suffers a sophomore slump.

We had rightfully mocked our goaltending department for years leading up to the Markstrom signing, but they've certainly done a good job in recent years.

Scouting Vladar out of Boston for a 3rd is fantastic work - as is this extension.

If Wolf comes through and looks like he's going to steal a job next year or the year after? Well, that's just strong organizational depth.

Great news. Wow. Brad isn't F ing around at all. Has a serious check on the pulse of this team.
As an executive I sincerely wish he receives an award ....his hard work is truly amazing and keeps this team from circling the drain like that team north of us.

I love Vladar giving credit to Jacob for his progression. I love that Jason Barbs and Co went hard after him and that he's been able to show and prove this extension is well deserved.

When is Treliving getting an extension and a holiday?

Not quite.

Backlund, Lindholm, Toffoli, Tanev, Hanifin, Zadorov, Kylington all expire to UFA after the 2023-24 season.

So it's a two season window, this plus one more.

All elite NHL goalies play in the NHL by the time of their 21 year old season. Shesterkin is the only real exception (played in his 23 year old season).
Yes, Wolf has nothing left to prove at the AHL level.
Not much to do other than regress or get injured.

He had a great first year no doubt.

I thought he looked better early in the year than he did later on. I don’t think another year or two in the AHL would hurt him and it should help him build stamina and consistency.

Good signing. If Wolf shoots the lights out it can become great trade.

Vladar inspires a lot of confidence when he is in net. Not that Marky doesn't but it sure is nice to have 2 goalies who give the team a chance to win every night. I l Iike the person, I like the player and I like the contract. Tidy piece of work by the Wizard.

Will be interesting to see how Wolf takes this news. Knows he's likely in purgatory unless he can force his way in.

Love it.

Vladar was not sheltered at all last year, and played very well against good teams.

Great signing!

Awesome news. Bit of a surprise, but BT is on fire getting #### done. Vladar is such an awesome dude. Could probably be a 1B on a lot of teams if he wanted to go elsewhere. Solid deal.

Wonder what happens with Wolf? Thought he might be pushing for a spot as soon as next season, but than I saw he's still only 21. For some reason I thought he was pushing 24. Some over-ripening?

And meanwhile Edmonton is paying their new shiny starter 5 mill to get yanked 10 minutes in lmao. Honestly if I’m an oilers fan right now I’m passed Calgary somehow has a better goalie at a much better cap hit and term then their starter hahahahahahaha

Probably not what anyone wants to hear - but the most likely scenario if Vlader shows out and Wolf continues to develop is that Markstrom is traded (if he still looks like a starter) or bought out (if he flames out as he hits his mid-30s).
