They are. For players, management and semi-trailers.
Not very efficient for semis to deliver fully underground. And staff/players parking is minimal - what - 100 stalls or so. But you can't put parking for fans under there.

The event level is below ground, so the loading docks are all as well. There will be a multistory above-ground parkade, but it will likely only be for suite holders.

Well, sure. But I that's usually accomplished by a long wide open grade - like a walk out basement. Basically what they have on the south side of the dome now. Not really what I picture as underground parking. And they don't usually park there anyway - they unload and move off.
Frankly, I'd be happy enough with no adjacent parking but that would never happen.
I'm not in Calgary, so my only hope is they agree quickly so I can rest easy knowing the building is on its way and that the Flames are staying in Calgary.

This information is from the construction site of the Bow Building downtown. If they wanted underground parking and loading docks it can be done.
The parkade is the largest in Calgary at 1 million sq ft. It provides 1358 parking spots and provision for 320 bicycles.
THE BOW has Calgary's only loading dock under an active roadway.
Lumber and Steel prices are down a lot since Oct 2021 so now may be the time to get early mill orders in. With a company that has the knowledge like CAA they can probably book mill runs quite easily.

As time goes on and prices for everything continue to rise I find myself caring less and less about the Flames getting a new arena. I can't afford to go to games in the old one, I definitely won't be able to use the new one

The Bow doesn’t have an ice plant that I know of. And since the arena ice surface no doubt will be below ground level, with the ice plant below that, now you are burying a parkade three or four levels deep for the first parking level.

True, but the new rink won't have the heating utility system that a 75 story tower has either. If you have ever parked in the Bow you would realize you are 10 stories below street level also.
Why do everyone on here have to take some basic information and use it to try a prove someone wrong. Someone mentioned parking and loading docks and all I did was provide some information that is proven, take it any way you want it but an ice plant isn't the deciding factor if they will build underground parking. Thanks.
CMLC couldn't go wrong in their first few projects, everything they touched felt like an urban design homerun. These days, everything feels like a giant swing-and-a-miss. Not sure if it's a personnel/budget issue, but it's been a pretty big fall from grace.
I echo Bunk...both you and Zarley have said the same thing.
What's been a swing and a miss?

Why does the ice need to be at ground level? Build a giant C train station underneath the arena.
