If you get Centre ice on cable are games still blacked out?? Doesn’t that defeat the purpose?

Some blackout info.
https://www.snnow.ca/support/blog/su...t-restrictions
If you live in a team region but do not subscribe to to the particular channel the regional coverage of the game is on it will be blacked out regardless of SN Now Premium etc.
For example, I live in Saskatchewan. Its the Flames/Oilers/Jets region. The Jets regional coverage is provided by TSN. If I don't subscribe to TSN or TSN Direct I won't be able to watch regional Jets broadcasts regardless of whether I have SN Now Premium or not.

Yeah. I wanted to watch Caps-Habs on Saturday but it was blacked out. Was forced to watch Sens-Leafs before the Flames game.
Is Snet that worried I might start hating the Leafs and loving the Habs? I got bad news for them.

In general, I don’t get this. Clearly your geography via IP address is easily determined. It’s not like you are driving to see the game and therefore someone lost out on revenue. In fact the opposite might be true. You can watch all of your team’s games and therefore you become more attached and buy more merchandise.
Why wouldn’t the nhl have a goals zone and all games available whenever anyone wanted to watch?

Rogers is the only legal option. Mario played in the NHL and wore 66; NHL 66.

This has always been a stupid part of how NHL has sold their rights, and NHL CI, and it was that way before Rogers.
The fact you could by NHL Center Ice in Calgary and have Flames games blacked out was always ridiculous.
Still not a consumer protection issue, but more just NHL stupidity.

Rogers online streaming is unreliable and gave me error after error after error. This is a paid service. I wound up going to Mario while I resolved the issue. Mario worked right away and in HD.
Since there's no competition and Rogers is the only provider of national games, I think we as consumers ought to have some sort of protection from this anti competitive dog #### we're being forced to purchase if we want to watch hockey.

The digital boards are not just a Rogers thing. Pretty sure its an NHL thing and used on all broadcasts.

It's actually a cool concept but I have my doubts that Rogers will use it to enhance the viewing experience and it will, instead, be an upsell for big advertisers.

Legend has it, that there was a certain NHL player by the name of Mario, who had a famous number. Some say that if you seek him out, all your watching needs could be fulfilled! But beware, for the journey is filled with terrors and popups. Adventurers would be wise to arm themselves with a VPN!

You must also say the magical name of the league whence thy quest commences.

Terrible execution and distracting.

Apologies if it's against the rules, but I've seen Mario's site mentioned in this thread. Is it still reliable?
I'm in Australia and to get legal access to the NHL, you need to pay Rupert Murdoch $60 per month.

Some countries it's free to use otherwise you need a VPN, Australia should be free. It's very good I use it on my Amazon fire stick, and phone never had a problem.

Speak for yourself. My torch is doused in gasoline, my pitchfork is razor sharp, and I already hate this program even though I missed it last Monday and know almost nothing about it.

Thanks mate.
I tried to watch the Hurricanes game yesterday but it said there was a problem with the video. Will try again for the Pens game.
