Will here be a certain mascot there that starts with an “S” and ends with an “corch”?

Heading to the game with my daughter’s hockey team. Kids are very excited. Nice to have another option to bring teams to as flames games are too cost prohibitive for minor hockey programs.

Cmon Wranglers let’s get Wranglin’!

Is there a radio broadcast of this game?

Go to AHL.com GameCentre for the Home and Away audio feeds.

I might be dense but I don't see a link for a radio feed.

2 dollar sodas.
2 dollar small popcorn.
5-6 for hotdog/hamburger/beer

Not bad at all, just Sunday’s apparently.

Wranglers lose a close one 6-5. Sounds like Phillips just doing what he does with a two goal game.

Action packed game. The Wranglers were awful the first 30 but really turned it around in the back half. Just ran out of time to complete the comeback.

Schwindt stood out to me in a good way. Poirier has quite a bit of work on his decision making to do.

Saw Darryl taking in the game.

Loved the 1:00 start. Overall great value for the 20 bucks or so.

Awesome. Will be nice to hear more opinions and perspectives on our AHL team now that they're local.

These were the lines, but there were lots of special teams due to penalties and lots of scrums.

Pelletier-Zary-Phillips
Zohorna-Jones-Pospisil
Bishop-Sutter-Duehr
McClain-Schwindt-Klapka

Gilbert-DeSimone
Kuznetzov-Solovyov
Poirier-Meloche

Wolf
Dansk

Wolf made a lot of saves early on but Wranglers let the Firebirds walk in, get to the slot and the net, and get lots of deflections in close. Wolf got pulled after 5 goals but I’m not sure you can blame him.

DeSimone was one of the better d men. Meloche tried to be physical but didn’t look great. Poirier did alright in his first game and scored a wrister. Sutter is just super industrious. Phillips had a few good shifts - a nice backhand goal and a wraparound goal. Zary had one nice move but missed the net on the finish - otherwise wasn’t fantastic. Pelletier was underwhelming. The Wranglers have a lot of big players who like to muck it up. Pospisil does lots of little annoying things to get under the skin of opponents.

I really liked Zohorna today and I think he could be a viable fourth liner in the NHL, maybe even a third liner.

I like that Phillips popped in 2 goals, I’m still hoping he gets a look, I think he’d look fine on either of the middle 6 lines.

Huberdeau - Lindholm - Toffoli
Mangiapane - Kadri - Dube
Coleman - Backlund - Phillips
Lucic - Rooney - Lewis/Ritchie

I think if Calgary gives Phillips a look during the regular season when it matters and with good players his skillset will take over. Honestly you could slide Toffoli down with Backs and Coleman and give Phillips a cup of coffee with Huberdeau at Lindy and some point during the 8 game home stand.

I wrote a bit in the Saddledome is too loud thread, but in case you aren't checking that out, the PA volume felt over-the-top for a Sunday afternoon when a bunch of families with young kids would be going. Based on that thread, myself, and a few friends I know who went with their kids, many couldn't stay long at the game because of how loud it was.

I know it's a tough balance, but just a thought for future games as I know a lot of people are excited about having another affordable family friendly sports option in the city.

I'd also provide the feedback that the music and PA is too loud. It significantly detracts from the experience (to the point where people, myself and the 5 people I went with - left early - which sucks, because we missed the comeback push).
