I don’t really understand why people don’t like Ritchie.
4th line player who is cheap, big, hits, and doesn’t get scored on.
What do you want from a 4th line player? If nothing else he puts another body in front of Lewis being an every night player - and that’s much more of a positive.

Don’t get comments like this. Teammates love him, coach loves him, glue guys are important.
For a cheap salary Ritchie was more than serviceable last year. Welcome back!

I think it’s also because some people are very anxious to get Pelletier/Ruzicka etc into the lineup and they feel this obstructs that.
Speaking of which: who’s waivers exempt this year?

I don't understand why people don't like Lewis either. Guy works his butt off every shift. If his drive rubs off even a little bit on everyone it's a good thing.

Maybe they are signing him because Ruzicka talks are going nowhere.

Too bad there's no room to bring in his brother, Nick. I've always liked Nick, even though he's horribly inconsistent. One of the toughest in the league though, and good when he's on.

You know the scene in Office Space where the HR guys ask the stupid manager "What is it exactly that you do around here?".
That's how I feel about Ritchie. He's a total nothingburger in my estimation. Better players can take his spot

I thought Ritchie upped his game in the playoffs, which I love to see.
But I do have concerns that if Ritchie, Lewis, Lucic and Rooney all play, that's a lot of lost offense.

I feel like some people think every player should have untapped 40g potential and are just ready to 'pop'.

No. One has nothing to do with the other. Ritchie will be in the press box at least half of the games. Ruzicka needs to play—either with the Flames or the Wranglers.

This will likely almost never happen, and if or when it does it will be because of multiple injuries.

I think its a great signing. I’m assuming the dollars will be low, I’m guessing him and Lucic will spell each other off. I have no problem with it. Anyone that thinks he is blocking a young player is crazy. They either don’t play the same role or if the young player isn’t good enough to beat Ritchie out then I’m guessing that young player isn’t ready anyway.

Taking a while to get to 5000

^ Not yet. Weirdly enough I'll be kind of disappointed if it doesn't end up happening

A whole lot of nothing to see here if you ask me. He can be a useful player in stretches, but he's also awful in stretches. I guess it's potentially a good extra body to have around, but it's not like this moves the needle on the upcoming season much.

I hope you're right...
But I will say, Rooney is an upgrade over Richardson. If the rest is the same, it's a net positive.

I could see platooning Ritchie and Lucic. Lucic needs less games to stay fresh. Ritchie needs less games to stay hungry.

Shows you how far the depth has come. He might make it as a 13th forward but previsely he was playing higher up in the lineup. I like his speed and size in the lineup and you can never have enough of that.Good possession numbers as well.Could score a bit more though, evn for a fourth liner.
