Monahan represented hope for this organization.
I would love to see Montreal represent hope for Monahan's NHL career.

Of all the guys that left within these past few years, I feel sentimental for Monahan. He was pretty much the center that the Flames needed for the rebuild. It really sucks that he took all that punishment playing with small forwards.
I really wish him the best going forward. It really sucks that the Flames are basically giving him up for absolutely nothing (plus even more).

I won't even be mad if Monahan bounces back to 30 goals. I hope he does.

Monny was deff my favorite Flame of this generation, very sad to see him go. Hope he takes better care of himself (and Montreal's training staff actually takes his "warrior" mentality into consideration when evaluating him). Lots of life left after hockey Sean
Best of luck!

Monahan was my favourite Flames since Iggy, so this is a bit sad. He was start of the rebuild in 2013 and brought so much hope. Lots of character, hard working, no complaining -- too bad his body couldn't hold up.
I was hoping someway he could regain some of his form here this year, but I wish him all the best in Montreal and hope he can score 30 again.

So my son(15) has a Monahan full size Fathead in his room. We are going to be painting his room next week. I asked him when I got home if it was going back up when we finish. His answer was “Yes, its going back up and will stay up until we move but then it’ll go back up.
That is the impct that Monahan had on my kid. Sean was his favorite and remembers almost everything that Sean has done. At any of the Red Rally’s Mono’s autograph was always number one to get.
I hope he bounces back and finds he way in Montreal. Thanks for memories.

I'm sorry Calgary had to lose Monahan in order to do this. He seemed like a really decent guy, with lots of character. At one point, I thought he would've made a great captain. Good luck Sean!

Says alot about his character that he barely played the last 2 years, yet his departure stings more than losing 2 Allstar players.
I will always cheer for him and hoping he rebounds back into Monyhands again. Best of luck sir.

Celebrated Square Root Day
|
Really going to miss Monahan, he truly gave everything he had and never complained or got down. Just rehabbed and worked to get back every time an injury came along.
Imagine going back to 2015 when there were murmurs in the hockey world of Monahan and Gaudureau being the next Kane/Toews and telling everyone that in 2022 we'd lose Gaudreau and Monahan that off season and pay a 1st round pick to do so.

I’m sad to see him go. He has been a pillar of the community since the day he arrived in Calgary.
His impact on the ice was instant. I feel so bad for him and how injuries curtailed his career. I genuinely believe had it not been for them, his number would’ve gone on to hang from the rafters.

Imagine saying you’d lose Gaudreau for nothing and pay to get rid of Monny …
and be able to make a solid case in favour of how you got better!
But as the 23 appreciation thread, I loved the player. How he quietly got to the right places and was clutch
I hope he bounces back and has some good years ahead
I have a 23 jersey and no regret
