Line matching is really important vs Oilers. I thought the Flames 2nd and 3rd lines did very well to be aware against McDavid and his line once they committed to defensive play. Trouble is that it took the Flames until game 4 to do this (and of course they weren’t matched for some reason in OT). The number of high danger chances that line generated in the last couple of games was fairly low.

The Oilers are so McDavid driven that you need to feel comfortable that if you slow him down, the matchups you get in return will favor you.

Sad when leading up to this series the NHL network literally said how good for the NHL it would be if it was McDavid vs MacKinnon and here we are. Paraphrasing, but "it would be so good for the NHL in the US to have NHL's marquee player McDavid against the high flying AVS in the next round."

NHL is more of a business than a game.

All games start at 6pm Mountain Time. Now that the NHL has the matchup they wanted they start being concerned about having friendly times for eastern viewers.

I wonder how Smitty will react when Nasim does to him what he did to Binnington. Tee hee.

Except you know the question from Oake would be “How does it feel to have shared the ice with McDavid and Draisaitl?”

My niece had an observation that may have an effect on this series. We were talking about the Flames and I explained that Markstrom always seems to struggle against the Oilers. She responded with "Maybe it is because of the smell." I haven't stopped chuckling.

So maybe the Avs will choke because of the smell of their opposition.

Go Avs.

How hard will the league and refs push for McDavid in the finals?

Or is Mackinnon in the finals good enough so that they'll let it play out?

Don't #### this up Avs.

My neighbor is an oiler fan and he asked me, "if the oilers win this series are you gonna cheer for them in the finals?"

He didn't like my answer.

If the Flames had played good team D and had average goaltending, they win Game 1 5-1 or 6-2. Then they lock down the Oilers in game 2 and win 3-1. Still lose game 3, but win games 4 and 5.

It's difficult to overstate how much harder the Flames made everything on themselves and how much better they made the Oilers look. McDavid was in god mode, but part of that was giving him 4 points in a silly comeback in game 1 that let him and his team believe he could walk all over the Flames (and he could). He can't do shart without the puck.

The Oilers are gonna get shelled in game 1 and the Avs won't give them confidence in a loss like the Flames did.

Unless the avalanches choke, this series should be done in a week

So we can stop hearing from the annoying Oilers fans and their clown of a coach.

Crazy to think of where the Oilers would be if they didn't have McGenerational playing every 2nd shift. Maybe not bad enough to be a lottery team, but they certainly wouldn't have even made the playoffs without him. The guy is single-handedly responsible for about 95% of their offence.

It's because there aren't any more double headers in the Conference Final. There's one game each night, so they don't have to worry about staggering the start times.

It would’ve been the same start times if the Flames made it.

Demand a trade to Calgary and only Calgary in the off season?

I'd miss Monahan and Lucic but you do what you gotta do to accommodate a hometown boy.

Absolutely. Their streak of missed playoffs would have never ended if they hadn't won a god###n lottery.
