Rittich in his seasons here was hot/warm early and got replaced by the other goalie come Feb as he got tired mentally.
Turning point mentally I think was getting to go to All Star game by default, followed soon by the showboating after the Oilers shootout.
He was brutal the rest of that season and pulled 3 or 4 times precovid. Then the Dallas game 6 debacle where, like 2 nights ago, he just wasn't mentally ready and blew the game by letting in 3 goals on next 5 shots. Flames don't get a point out of Tuesday's game if Saros is in net, nevermind 2.
Injury reports this year certainly with the spotlight of playoffs, are going to be put to the test. With the commitment by the league in gambling, injury reports, like you see in the NFL, are going to be have to be pretty clear.
Tonight and tomorrow's games have me worried about an issue with any of our guys. Nashville was a good game for so many team building reasons, rough and tumble as it were it really got the intensity levels up to a good point, so it really would be nice to have ended things there rather than these two useless games which have zero emotion, zero effect standings and milestone wise except for JG and 40 goals, sl really only have the potential for someone to get hurt.

Rittich is okay, he is a danger to get hot. But hes more prone to sinking when emotion is high. Vladar has been much more steady IMO. I would feel better about having to use Vladar for a series than Rittich right now. Personally.

I really liked Rittich while he was here, super personable and likeable guy. He also has the skills to be a starting goaltender but I always assumed it was nerves/anxiety with him that led to his mistakes. He never had that kipper composure to him from what I saw. Still really like the guy though.

Yeah - Rittich would have a good stretch but when things went bad, it would linger for awhile and cause him to lose the starters role.

Less concerned about Rittich as I would be about Ingram. Flames don't know him. Could give a team trouble in a short span. That said, Flames are going to get a lot of pucks on him so he'd need to be amazing.

That's too bad for Saros, but I'm glad from the Flames perspective.
If I'm the Preds I go with Ingram in net. He looked better than Rittich in preseason. He has only 2 games this year, a decent one against Minny, and one where he allowed the Oilers 4 goals, despite playing very well and making some great saves.
Here are Ingram's games this season(to save some of you the need to search them):
I think the fact that Ingram is less scouted than Rittich can be an advantage. It could take a couple of games to figure out what kind of shots does he struggle with. On the other hand he is less familiar with the team/system so that can be an advantage for the opposing team.

I’m one of those people who wants to beat other teams when they’re at their best so this definitely sucks. Hope Saros has a good recovery

Yeah honestly this injury news took all the wind out of my sails of excitement for a playoff series against them.

The wind is still all up in my sails for this match up.
We need to win a round, if anything to exercise past demons and gain some confidence. I don't care if goaltending ends up being the difference, the Flames still need this. So if we can get over that first hurdle a little easier now then great.

The Oilers get to play LA without Doughty, so if the Flames end up playing Nashville without Saros it's not going to bother me.

I hear ya, but every team gets injuries and you have to play on. Here are Nashville's winning percentages with the two goalies:
Saros..: .598
Riddich: .615
Suggesting the series is over, or tainted, simply because one guy is injured, is not only misguided, but completely unfair to the rest of the team. And the other team, for that matter.

The Flames won a series without Gio back in the day, Nashville could win one without Saros.
Theres no free wins in the playoffs.

Sure but what is the Flames record against the with each goalie?
Seriously, backup records are sometimes skewed because of quality of competition etc

I don’t mean to suggest that at all, I just agree that I like to play teams at their best and I voted for Nashville in the poll because I was hyped for it. Now I’m feeling indifferent between Dallas and Nashville.
I don’t recall hinting that I didn’t care to watch it. Some of you, I tell ya.

I’m one of those guys that like to win at street hockey 23-0 without changing the teams up. This is right in my wheel house.
