As Bingo posted 16 months ago we really have no idea what the guy has done to change or make amends. And it will be very hard to ever truly know. He can get propped up with some good public talking points, hold a nice press conference and get a couple of people to say nice things. None of which mean much of anything.

I hope of his sake he has figured some things out and is a changed person.

I hope for the sake of the players/ kids he is a changed person. Racist or not, he certainly sounded like an abusive a**hole.

I really hope this isn't true. It probably will go without a hitch as most fans, especially WHL fans down here, likely have no clue about Peter's past comments so won't blink an eye.

I believe that everyone deserves a second chance but when it is your team that you bring your children to, not sure I want to explain to them why we don't cheer for the new coach.

We can't just condemn people for the rest of their lives because of mistakes of their past, regardless of how bad they may have been by today's lens. We would all be condemned or canceled for something in our histories if that were the case.

So long as he is committed to changing and improving. I think it's right to give every one a chance to do that (with the exception of extreme cases where kids can be put at risk). I haven't heard anything about repeat behaviour from him overseas since working for the Flames.

The beautiful thing about people is that they have the ability to improve and find redemption if they choose to. Hopefully he's chosen that path and is putting in his time to make amends and be better.

Maybe he can use his experience as a springboard to do more good in the hockey community than the harm he caused earlier in his career and use that wisdom to help guide others.

He was the coach who complained about the music someone played and said ‘n word this, n word that’ or something? Am I misremembering, was there more to this that I’m not remembering?

I recall thinking it was pretty overblown at the time. And he lead the flames to first in the division? Good coach who needed sensitivity training. Have at er.

When he went on leave more stuff leaked about him being abusive and and punching and kicking a player behind the bench.

We don't know what else came out of the investigation the Flames conducted as it was never revealed.

How good of a coach he is is irrelevant. The fact that he thought he could use that language as a power play to a black player should be enough for him to look for another career. You only use that word to degrade another human being. Go pump gas, there are lots of coaches that can win hockey games without resorting to that type of conduct.

As a WHL fan in Lethbridge, speaking with other WHL fans in Lethbridge, we are VERY aware.

I believe in second chances. I’m sure the team has vetted the guy, including a serious conversation with him. He’ll know that eyes will be on him.

My kid had an ice time with his kid at FCA a few years ago. Peters invited some of his kids teammates and my kid was a bud so got invited. He just sat up in the lounge and bought us beers. He has a real charisma that you can see why he was a head coach immediately, he was funny and brilliant storyteller.

He said his kids coach at Edge School was the worst coach he's ever seen and added that his kid learned to play hockey in CAROLINA, so that is saying something. Hilarious story the way he told it.

Doesn't add to the story just a useless anecdote.

Not the ones I have talked but obviously it is a diverse group of people.

He had a lot of good qualities about him as a head coach and the things he believed in and again he unlocked the offensive potential for a good portion of the roster.

Even in Carolina the teams may not have gotten the results but around the league they always said Carolina was one of the best coached and prepared teams in the league.

Faceoffs, starting on time and the transition are some of the key elements of his style that I remember being the reason for our turnaround.

Too bad he may also be a person who had too much old school in him and using language that he thought was ok and its not ok.

Crazy how many junior teams there are in the province between WHL, AJHL and Junior B & C leagues... and I wasn't good enough for any of them.

Not really sure why they'd have one. The league seems fine. If anything, it should be Airdrie which is growing like crazy and Airdrie/Calgary isn't that different from Everett/Seattle.

More no teams in Northern AB. GP (75,000) has higher population then

Swift Current
Brandon
Moose Jaw
Prince Albert
Medicine Hat

Airdrie/Calgary is no different then Sherwood Park (Strathcona)/Edmonton.

I guess its not Crazy and the league divisions are set up but would be nice to have a team up north.

I suspect location is entirely the reason. Travel in the WHL is all done by bus, and that would be the team with the most KMs to traverse by far. Can't imagine a lot of other teams would be happy driving that far north even for a pair of back to backs.

Lol, you're 100% moon!

It's all good you were banned so long ago and basically every other banned poster has come back and eventually been accepted by mods (new Era getting his username changed back to Lanny). You posted in the same style, same opinions, cheered for the same teams. Everything exactly the same.

I was like "one day he'll mention living in lethbridge and it will be confirmed" haha.

Edit: I feel vindicated after all the "yikes" comparisons.
