And Forsberg has a higher goals/game played ratio with 0.60. Currently the only non-Albertan team that looks like they will finish with two 40+ goal scorers. A hat trick by the likes of Marner or Hintz could change that but they need to average a goal/game going forward.
There's been less than 20 individual players to put up a 0.60+ goal/game (min 25 games) in the previous 20 years. Zibanejad, Stamkos, Perry, Pastrnak, Ovechkin, Matthews, Malkin, Lecavalier, Kovalchuk, Jagr, Iginla, Hejduk, Heatley, Gagne, Gaborik, Draisaitl, DeBrincat, Crosby, Cheechoo. (Bolded Rocket Richard Winners).
The 2009-2010 to 2018-2019 decade only had six individuals make that feat (Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin, Stamkos, Perry and Draisaitl).
Yet this season alone has five currently on pace to make it; Ovechkin, Kreider, Forsberg, Draisaitl and Matthews.
It's been a huge outlier for goal scoring and higher Individual point totals for sure. Strong chance that there are 8 guys touch the Century total for points. Very likely that there will be 4 guys get to 50 goals. It's been since the 05-06 season coming out of the lockout since we saw this many guys hitting those totals. There are 20 guys currently at 36 or more goals, and I'll be surprised if we don't have at least 12 guys hit 40. There's 41 guys already hit 30 goals. In 2014-2015..there were 15! Hudler and Monahan finished tied for 12th with the legendary Radim Vrbata and Nick Foligno with 31.
Chris Kreider's career high before this year was 28 goals. He had 20 in 50 last year which would project to 32 or so in 80 games...he's blown that out of the water by hitting 50.
So for guys like Shesterkin and Markstrom to have career high numbers in a season like this, is really going against trends.
The fact that one of Makar or Josi won't win the Norris with the season's they have had is incredible.
Definitely been a banner year for Individuals having great seasons.

I know some people don't like the Marek show, but when its on, I don't really mind it at all. Its decent listening. He is starting to tread dangerously close to Ron Mclean territory though.
Anyway they were talking about using regulation wins as a benchmark to where teams stack up. No 3on3 or shootouts in the playoffs.
Those top 5 or so teams are much closer in that regard than I thought. Colorado and Florida aren't quite running away with things as it would appear with the standings.
Colorado has 45, Florida 40, Calgary 42, St Louis 41, Carolina 41.
Florida was the biggest surprise to me.
Marek is the worst. Huge Oil / Leaf fan and the way he talks is so slow and clearly made for radio / dragging out points. He's worse than Maclean, by far IMO.

I feel like I either need a nap or a red bull after listing to Marek. It’s so much work for the listener. It’s exhausting.
He’s tolerable when it’s a conversation with another person but he gets too much solo airtime rambling platitudes and cliches.
