Edit. Nvm suck at the internet.

Tried to copy a link as Jomboy has done a breakdown of the slap and it's pretty pretty good.

Slapping another person is assault. Pretty cut and dry there.

Haven't seen any of the other performances but Denzel Washington in The Tragedy of Macbeth was perfect.

Guess I’m just not quite there on the “he broke the law” argument. Seems like people get slapped once in a while.
No, absolutely not. You cannot just slap a person because they upset you.

Your argument is bizarre.

The slapee would need to press charges. So only if it’s worth all that would it happen.

Will Smith’s reaction aside, who in their right mind thought it was a good idea to make fun of a woman’s well documented medical condition for a punchline? It wasn’t even very funny. At least Ricky Gervais would roast them for being self obsessed idiots, not just take low blows like that.

I never said it was OK.

The statement was if any other person did that they would be arrested. I don’t think many people have been arrested for a slap. I really don’t.

Didn't watch tonight, but I just saw the Will Smith/Chris Rock slap. What the hell? Was that staged? If not, then Smith is a f'n lunatic and should have been kicked out of the building for that crap. What a buffoon.

Anyone else who slapped someone in front of thousands of people, live streamed to millions around the world would've been arrested. If some random seat filler walked on stage and slapped Sir Anthony Hopkins they would've been arrested, quickly.

We also don't know if Chris Rock isn't hurt, adrenaline is a hell of a thing. He was backstage minutes later. Could be pretty effed up. It's assault, clear as day. Others getting away with it doesn't make it okay.

Well not that’s exactly correct. People don’t press criminal charges.

Which isn’t to say they don’t impact whether the applicable authorities will press charges.

They gave Will Smith an Oscar over Denzel in Macbeth?

ROFL.

Who said it is ok? You really think he should be arrested though?

I think you nailed it in the first paragraph, but the reaction while misguided is absolutely real.

I have seen what can happen to a man who feels wronged like this. One that was pretty genuine. He snapped after it festering for a while. Ended up with both dead.

I just hope this pushes him to get help. He maybe a phony outward person, but what we saw was very real, and can be very dangerous.

Just want to put it out there that I don’t think any mould of man is predisposed to having this rage and if you see it or feel it get help.

I can't say I would do the same thing, but I would certainly be mad as well. If Chris Rock knew it was a medical condition and still chose to make a joke about it, then he is jerk for sure. Who knows how badly it affects her confidence and self-image. Some things should be off limits to joke about in a place like the Oscars.

Anyone, just tonight, realizing that Will Smith is a vain, insecure piece of #### hasn't been paying attention.

The slap saved an otherwise dreadful Oscars with almost no notable films and zero buzz. People still aren’t talking about the movies but I’m sure the ratings got a huge bump at around 830pm MT

My friend said that Jada has an auto immune disease and that's why she's bald? I don't know, I sort of support Will for standing up for his wife after someone made fun of her being bald.
