I don't think it will matter much with VGK's goaltending.

Bump. Good chance we end up with Nashville or Dallas (Haynes projects Flames vs Dallas based on remaining schedule). Both are good teams and will be a good challenge for the Flames in the first round.

Honestly, not looking forward to Benn and Pavelski. They love to play against the Flames.

Eh I take a Darryl Sutter vs Rick Bowness matchup any day of the week. The Flames almost beat the stars with Ward being completely out coached.

I've always hated the stars . I think it's certain players as well as not ever liking Bowness very much.....plus we need to beat the Stars anyway....we owe them a golf season.

I was so looking forward to a series v. Nashville. That would be wild.

Markstrom career numbers are decent against Dallas. I fear the Stars a bit, ghosts of the past and all, but the Flames are the better team and it might be the best match up available outside of the Kings dropping down

Also worth noting Heiskinen will either be out or just recovering from Mono.

With Darryl Sutter at the helm I think we would have beaten both Colorado and Dallas. Both series had chances to take strangle holds on the series but couldn’t hold a lead for the life of them. With Sutter I don’t believe that happens.

Can't say any of the Western round 1 matchups really excite me, except maybe the Avs vs. Knights, if they can squeak in.

The East matchups as of today are just about perfect. Leafs vs. Bruins, Pens vs. Rangers, Lightning vs. Canes, and Panthers vs. Caps would be an amazing first round.

Dallas, Nashville, St Louis, doesn't matter.

Any one of these teams (or anyone else) could beat the Flames if the Flames don't play well. Any one of them could get hot at the right (wrong ) time.

Conversely, the Flames, when they are playing well and playing the right way, are better than any of those teams, and should be able to advance.

Picking which opponents you want or don't want is a fools game.

The last two playoff series were lost because of the Flames's missing killer-instinct. That has definitely changed, and it shifts my perspective Outlook on pretty much any playoff series.

Sutter makes all the difference. He was the true captain of the team on the '04 run, and he's the true captain of this team too. The guy is a very impressive leader, and he has made better leaders of the players on the ice, which really shows with guys such as Johnny and Tkachuk.

But it’s still fun to talk about!

Personally I want Dallas. They have one good line, their D kinda suck, and their goalie’s been good but completely unproven. I think we’d roll them.

Do not want Nashville. They scare me.

I think I saw somewhere that Vegas has the toughest schedule to close out the season in the league. Or maybe just the West.

I agree though that would be pretty on par for the team and I wouldn’t be surprised

I am not sure you have that right. In most of the models I have seen VGK's remaining schedule is among the easiest.

You’re right. I was probably thinking of another team entirely. And also was probably drunk. Apologies

Toronto likely having to play Boston in the 1st round again... You almost have to feel sorry for them.

Never feel sorry for the Leafs. Never.
