I really like the opportunity for Ruzicka. He has the potential to produce offence and these are great linemates and a vulnerable opponent for him to do so. Good luck to him.

This looks like Ruzicka's shot to be the 2nd line center. They really do need someone to slot in there to make the Backlund line the 3rd line. If it doesn't work out, I bet they try to bring in a 2nd line center before the deadline to go with similar lines moving forward.

Wow! Big changes tonight. I like it. Lewis on that line makes them the 3rd line which is fine if Ruzika can handle things

Fun line shakeup. The bottom 3 (especially bottom 2) lines have been underperforming for a while now, so can't argue with the changes. Really like the look of the lines. Also like that Sutter doesn't maintain a strict line hierarchy, and often gives reporters grief when asking about it (eg 'third' line).

Lindholm: clearly top line
Backlund: shut-down
Ruzicka: secondary scoring
Monahan: exhausting to play against

If I'm Edmonton, none of those 4 lines look enjoyable to face

Sutter knows the task at hand. Like Vladar did on Saturday, hopefully we see a positive response with the changes. On paper I like them a lot.

Huge opportunity for Ruzicka

Monahan is trending to be a buy out for his final year

Mangiapane and Toffoli are both shooters but to my eye they are different in their approach. Mangiapane likes to carry and go deep, then crash for a shot. Toffoli (being slower) likes to find quiet spots often as a trailer. Should work.

ETA: I bet Sutter also knows this games was circled on the Oilers' calendar so by changing up lines he's messing with their video.

I think the lines are as much of an adjustment for the schedule as they are any sort of shakeup

I love those lines!

If you're going to play Ruzicka, give him some offensive linemates so he can be successful. playing with Mangiapane and Toffoli will give him that chance, and they will probably spend a lot of time in the offensive zone.

Backlund-Colemnan are the shut down line - Lewis can definitely handle that role (and adds some physicality)

Lucic-Monahan-Dube - well, that's who's left

So if you look at the Flames game log, the Oilers represent the 7th most dominated opponent by the Flames this season ... but they lost both games.

The have an expected goal split of 62% five on five against the Oilers.

Five on Five Most Dominated Team List

1. Blues
2. Predators
3. Blue Jackets
4. Kraken
5. Coyotes
6. Blackhawks
7. Oilers

But when you look at the same stats in all situations the Oilers are 19th on the list. The other teams are still in the top 7

Stay out of the damn box!

If the Flames don't lose the special teams battle, I think they punish the Oilers tonight.

Just keep special teams even, and this is a mismatch.

I think the Flames will be looking to make a statement tonight
