Or same-old Sutter? Keep them grounded when they’re hot and winning and say nice things when things aren’t going well and they’re fragile.

He’s definitely not going to say they’re poised to win multiple cups, so the OG question was kinda lame.

He is very oppositional with any reporter question giving excessive praise or criticism of a player or a team. The big takeaway that I got out of that clip is when he said the Kings were ready when he arrived. Reiterates his comments from last year and the summer, that the Flames had major deficits when he showed up. The two that he continually repeats are the lack of team-based goals, and being a slow/passive team.

He seems to genuinely not care about getting respect. Only cares about, in his own words…. ‘Ws’

Same even voice level, no matter if he’s employing motivation by …. positive and/ or negative energy.

It’s 100 % about mental preparation and making sure each and every player is 100% on their toes and ready to perform, at their best, from start to finish.

Nobody does it better than Darryl.

If the media praises a player, or the team, he'll pour cold water on it. If the media criticizes a player or the team, he'll praise them.

Whatever you Ying, he'll Yang. Gotta keep everything on an even keel.

2011-2012 Kings were the 8th seed in the Western Conference.

Definitely just Darryl being Darryl.

Darryl Sutter is an absolute legend. Just tucked Wills away into his crib.

Shows how good of a fan I am.

If I saw Lewis or Hanifan, or Gudbranson, or Tanev, or Coleman on the street, I wouldn't know who they are.

lol. just kidding about 1 of the above.

In no way were the 2012 Kings ready when he arrived. Yes, they had the same players, but for Carter, but Sutter completely revamped how they went about their business. There's a reason that was Terry Murray's last HC gig.

Never in doubt for me if Toffoli was playing tonight. I can hear Sutter’s voice in my head. You don’t acquire this player for him to practice.

Yep, team plays better if he convinces them they are underdogs

he is in there right now telling them how much better the Blue Jackets are and if they don't play the system they will get totally embarrassed tonight

I get all the hype and excitement for this team right now, but I feel we as fans need to temper their expectations for this team a bit. The media has the fans in a frenzy, and possible Stanley Cup final predictions just feels like bad juju to me.
Thankfully, Darryl has mostly kept the players in a stable mindset.

Sutter is just making sure the team stays focused. There’s still a long way to go, and they can’t afford to get complacent after stringing a few wins together. They need to keep their foot on the gas.

The hype , excitement, frenzy and expectations of the fans has very little to nothing to do with how the Flames perform.

The mental and physical preparation, leadership , leading to game performances and results will decide the Flames destination.

Well, in fairness Markstrom has been on fire.

Its easy to ride the hot hand.

Really excited to see what happens now with the addition of Toffoli.

I know its only adding 1 guy, but its the nature of the addition that gets me. One of the Hallmarks of those Sutter-coached LA teams was just a relentless forecheck.

Wave after wave after unrelenting wave. Now that we have a really, really solid forward corps you can just keep throwing guys over the boards which keeps the tempo up and increases pressure on the other team.

Hanifin has the look of a main love interest in a teenage romcom movie.
