Can you think of a loss on Valimaki?

You probably can't because Flames haven't lost a game with Valimaki in.

Flames have lost 8 times with Zadorov in.

We get it. You hate Zadorov. Now can we focus on the positives here rather than argue about the fking 6th D?

That's legit all they are capable of. Every thread, a useless descent into a personal hatred hole.

Uh yeah obviously not.

I made it clear before season started that he was one of the worst defenceman I've ever watched. And he is not showing anything to change my mind.

Whenever Flames played against Zadorov I would love when he was on the ice because he would be lost defensively and turn the puck over all the time.

He should thank his lucky stars that he is being paired with Gudbranson and looks somewhat ok.

LOL

Valimaki had an egregious turnover that led to a breakaway in Boston. Had they scored, could have been a very different game. I believe it was 1-0 or 2-0 at the time.

Pro tip: coaches don't rate individual defenseman based on Ws.

I wouldn't pin any loss on Zadorov in the sense that you're talking about, either, but the fact of the matter is, if someone is annoyed at Zadorov being in the lineup, it's valid to feel that way. "Winning" with Zadorov isn't a virtual guarantee at all. This isn't the Chris Pronger or Zdeno Chara people want us to have.

Dougie Hamilton has been on 4 teams now - terrible defenceman. Also Nate Schmidt. Obviously Zadorov isn’t those guys, but sometimes players just move for a number of varying reasons. I mean, he was pretty decent in his first full season in Buffalo and then was moved in the ROR deal. That’s not a slight against Zadorov by any means. Then he got traded by the Avs for Saad. That’s not a tremendous slight either.

Not an expert by any stretch, but from the outside looking in I can't help wonder if the rigid structure of Sutters system where every player knows their role and expectations actually enables Zadorov to perform well.

It may be coincidental but the potential for a player with median Hockey IQ to struggle under poor systems and then shine within a structured framework is not unreasonable.

They’ve lost 8 times with Tanev in too. They’ve lost 7 times with Markstrom in.

It’s a dumb way to look at the decision.

Zadorov in a tie game with less than a minute to go turned the puck over and was saved by Blake Coleman.

You won't win the "who has turned the puck over more" game if that's what you want to play.

Agreed.

Which is what the point of the reply was.

It’s not valid if it’s just based on “I hate Zadorov” without actually looking at gameplay.

Can't wait until Zadorov is in the KHL. One of the worst defenceman in the NHL. 26 and on his 4th team.

3 other franchises apparently didn't see him in their top 6.

Chicago who have 0 defensive depth didn't think he was worth signing.

I would trust 3 other franchises if you wanna go the appeal to authority route.
Or for ####s and giggles we could use actual stats!

Over the last three years 190 defensemen have played 1000 minutes.

Zadorov is ranked 88th in xGA60 and 104th in CA60.

You don't have to love the player, but he's Calgary's 6th defenseman, bottom roster players move around all the time.

He's firmly in the middle of the pack for defensemen defensively (as advertised) over the past three years.

No need to appeal to any authority. Just look it up.

My guys have been playing a little better since firing Colliton, but, StanBo had left an extremely flawed roster. Him getting fired for covering up a team shame was just, but, the guy should have been fired long ago for crappy roster building, even without the Beach, et.al. revelations.

Fleury has settled in some, but, the 'Hawk D is still one of the worst in the league in allowing high danger chances. Murphy, Gustafsson, and S. Jones are flat out liabilities on D. DeHaan is a plumber who can't skate, McCabe (and S. Jones) are turnover machines. C. Jones and Kalnyuk are fresh of IR and haven't settled into roles yet.

Offensively, we have but 3 guys going well. DeBrincat, Kane and Hagel. Dach and Kurahev work hard, but lack consistency. Ice cold and snakebit, Kubalik, Strome (fresh out of Colliton's doghouse) and Toews. Low line plumbers fill the rest of the forward spots, Carpenter is probably the best of them but has hands like a rock. The others, IMO, are only marginal as NHLers, R. Johnson, Hardman, Borgstrom, Entwistle would be ok AHLers but haven't impressed at the NHL level. Gaudette and Khaira get only limited minutes. T.Johnson has been on IR, but hadn't fit in yet.

King has gone 7 D often, with Kane and DeBrincat taking turns double shifting...would not surprise me if this was the case again.

Good luck to you and your guys...agree that this could be a "trap" game for the Flames, but, if you guys get an early score, the 'Hawks won't have enough firepower to come back.

I am confused about your squad, Bread Eater a top scorer? He sell his soul to the devil or something? He always seemed a flat out grinder to me, in passed years.

Catch you all in the GT.
Do you still live in Chicago or moved to Calgary?

Partly curious because:

a) Wondering why you are a member of CP. Not against it by any stretch just curious how some outside fans end up here

b) If I can't sell my tickets and you live in Calgary I would offer them up to you for free as I can't go
