I do worry about the impact of the trade rumors on the Flames that are in whatever package Treliving is putting out there for Eichel. We saw it with Brodie how he basically just wanted to get out of the org once that all went public.

It would suck to not get Eichel while also make your players feel unwanted.

And yes I know, hockey is a business and these guys should understand that getting traded doesn’t mean you’re unwanted, but people are people.

PLD is good so far this year, but sure wasn’t last year. Anderson has been hot and cold, mostly the latter after a quick start. Reinhart is a big meh. Stone would be a Golden Knight by now anyway.

I don't think there is anything to worry about, here. There have not been any rumors floated about specific players; only speculation from fans, and I expect that players don't pay any attention at all to those.

Between this and the Flames start, these are fun times.

We are a farcry from the early days of this year. Just had to stand back for a moment and really appreciate that. Cheers to all the long suffering faithful that stuck it out to see these times. The flags were back out in full force around the city this morning and I couldn't be happier.

I look at an over pay here is worth it to also keep him from going to Vegas and in our division. Simultaneously getting a number one center and Vegas not gaining one. It would be two wins at once.

Treliving can’t afford to lose out again, the writings on the wall and he’s already gone all in on the coach and the goalie. Make the trade, we can’t play both Eichel and Mcdavid for a 6th of the season for the next 5 years.

Then, when they lose, they can overpay for Monahan (if he's not dealt for Eichel).

Brodie potentially being traded to Toronto did not make him want out of the organization. Brodie signed in Toronto more for personal reasons and that was part of why he was even in the Kadri trade talks originally. It was a good for everyone situation that Kadri nixed.

PLD has gone back to being who he was before being traded, stuck in a hotel for 2 weeks in quarantine which lead to injuries and a very average year. He looks much better this year and Laine is looking very average without a center who can feed him.

I’ve been supportive of Tre despite the growing chorus of people calling for his head, but if he sells the farm for Eichel I’ll be singing a different tune. Nothing would piss me off more than to sewer a promising season by moving out a bunch of players just so we can roll the dice on next year.

I just don’t see how this works cap wise without really hurting the team, unless it’s Zadorov & Monahan, or maybe Tkachuk going the other way. If Tre can put on his wizard hat and work some magic then great, but this feels super risky to me.

But it wouldn't be selling the farm for next year... If the trade went down today, we could potentially see Eichel this season around mid March/early April.

Having a healthy Eichel just in time for a playoff run.

(This is just from my understanding of the recovery time I read... I could be wrong)
