Right?!
If we lose 3 of 3 putting 40+ shots on net then I won't know what to say.

Not even mad though. I'm pretty numb from last season, and it has carried over.

Watching them outplay their opponent is fun though. At least more fun than losing while losing the territorial battle also.

Markstrom needs to be better. Where is the game changing save or big play from him? Won’t win many games when he is the second best goalie on the ice.

Offence sputters for us. Just not enough game breakers. Unless this team can lock down top teams we aren’t going anywhere. We have a second and decent third line. Who can we match with the Mackinnons, mcdavids, we need a Canadian Mc or mac apparently. Where is kyllington?

My patience for this team is very thin. This is typical Flames and frankly I've got better stuff to do with my time. This is all just a continuation from prior years but with a ####tier version of Monahan..

There were definitely some positives but sub par goaltending and the never ending ability to finish will keep this team from being a threat. Oh well.

This place is in mid season form after game two. I love it.

There’s plenty to be encouraged by thru two games.

I am old enough to remember we had one of the best group of dmen in the league, at least on paper

Now we have a couple, maybe 3 second pairing dmen and a bunch of bums.
That’s why we lost and yeah Markstrom let in two goals that were saveable. And Monahan is as useless as they come.

I mean, you don't need analytics to tell you the Flames were the better team tonight. Just good teams find ways to win games they shouldn't.

Man, Markstrom better get a lot better, or we're not going to win many games. It's not even because he's been bad particularly though (he's definitely let in a few softies). It's more because it looks like it takes an almost superhuman effort for our team to score, so if he lets in more than 2 goals, it's going to be almost insurmountable to come back from.

Yeah lots to like from the team in these first two games it is disappointing to see the special teams be so bad out of the gate though. PowerPlay and Penalty Killing you'd like to see more sharp after training camp and preseason games.

What year is it?

Not surprised. Rolled out the same core of forwards. With an even worse depth behind them. Can't expect a different result from last year. Until we have a new GM I have zero faith this team can accomplish anything other then being mediocre.

Moral victories don't put wins in the win column.

Markstrom is firmly in can't be blamed, but could maybe make a 6 million dollar save once in awhile territory.

The Ducks had no business being in this game. The Flames just don't have the elite finishers that other teams do, so the games will be tight even when they play really well.

The Flames' margin for error is going to be very tight most games.

Stack the pads.
I don't think Markstrom could have possibly got across and stacked the pads to stop the onetimer that was basically backdoor. In order to be in position with his pads stacked in time he would have had to slide across before the pass was made, leaving an empty net to shoot into.

Things will be very difficult offensively this year.
This team just doesn't have enough weapons.

It's good to see strong systematic play and outplaying the opponents, but you can only do so much with the wrong personnel.

Too bad there's no way anyone could have seen this coming...

And the Anaheim Ducks are a good team? Not a chance. The Anaheim Ducks are terrible, and they found a way to beat the Flames. That means the Flames are not a good team.
