Condolences to the family and to the hockey world that knew him and embraced him in their lives. May all who needs it have comfort in what he brought to each of their lives.

The rumour floating around is he had a heart attack in his sleep. No matter the answer it is terrible news.

Theo Fleury's twitter isn't much better although at least he didn't post about Jimmy Hayes.

I had to look up Penner’s questionable tweet, but are people upset about the COVID correlation? Certainly he’s wrong about it and he’s using this unnecessarily to further his agenda, but it comes across as just another covidiot. I’m not calling him a POS. He’s just a bit dumb. Surely there are other things to get angry about.

Cannot quote. It isn't that Penner 'correlated' it to Covid. He took Hayes death and tied it falsely to being caused by vaccinations. ######bag move.

It’s a false narrative he’s making up but frankly I don’t care. Just another conspiracy based idiot. Why get your blood pressure up.

I don't think he's a bit dumb. He's an f'n idiot who is also a homophobe.

Penner is the exact example of what some people mean when they talk about toxic hockey culture. It's an extreme example, and a rare one, but he's such a giant dirtbag. He's never had many friends on his teams in his playing days, you'd think he'd learn but apparantely not

Fleury's current public persona makes me 100% ok with 14 not being retired. Why honor someone like this. I say this as someone who had only Fleury posters on their wall growing up (ok one star trek poster too).

Ya, I have given up on him. Sucks so bad to see a childhood hero become such a dumbass. I respect what he does for the abused but he really needs to shut the hell up when it comes to politics.

Precisely, and in so many ways. At one time he looked like a hockey role model to never quit. Golf scholarship, Div. 3 NCAA parlayed into Div. 1., AHL, NHL, Stanley Cup, overcoming being an Oiler, another Stanley Cup…
I think this is what happens when a person has too much time and money on their hands snd no purpose. He’s also bitter that his ex wife took some of his money. Now we can see what she was living with. He was on spittin chiclets and he talked about wanting to start a podcast, but it’s pretty obvious why that didn’t happen.
He is a guy, who like Theo, could do a lot of positive work if they stopped being a dope.

I’m in the same camp. The Red Wings still haven’t retired Fedorov’s jersey because of that toxic offer sheet shenanigans he signed with the Carolina Hurricanes and Peter Karmanos in 1998 that forced the Wings to match, and then pay Sergei after they won the Cup.
Theo’s jersey isn’t retired… boo hoo… he’s not alone.
Not that it is comparable but Fedorov was a better player and in the Hall of Fame?
The Flames will probably wait until the Hall of Fame thinks Theo is worthy of getting honoured.
If it doesn’t happen… oh well.
