The Nucks needed more depth on the blueline, and these guys are warm bodies that can take NHL minutes. But $5.5M for the two of them?!?!?

Hughes is Hughes, but after that, OEL is their 2nd best defenseman, and Myers is 3rd at this point. Then you have Schenn, Hamonic, Poolman and Rathbone.

I think they are going to face the Edmonton problem this year - they will all be played in higher roles than they are capable of handling. And that is where defensemen fail.

If Myers (for example) is your #5 guy, with relatively sheltered minutes, he has tools and can be effective. But if you ask him to be the #3, and face any kind of significant competition, he is going to be ####. Like Klefbom - would have been a really good #3, but always had to be the #1 in Dumpsterville - it's a recipe for failure.
