Or just as easily add onto the continuous circle jerk for the "Treliving can do no right" crowd.

Why didn't we move him at the trade deadline for a first?
I hate to see him go, especially for nothing.

At least I know what is what, we'll see where you stand when/if he gets fired. I'll get your opinion then.

Also the original tweet seemed more speculative than anything that this is Gio.

Because no team would make that trade prior to the draft as they would have had to protect him, obviously.

Did you suggest this at the trade deadline, I don't remember seeing that option from you.

Re-reading, yeah, it seems like the rest is reporting and the bracket is speculation, picking out the biggest name from the Seattle roster.

I think they could've protected Giordano.

It's possible that the Rangers management felt otherwise, and liked the idea of getting both players, especially if Gio comes with some retention.

We'd get to see Jack Eichel play more.
That's what I like the most about this expansion, a new team in our division and we get to see more good and even great players on a regular basis.

Why didn't the Flames just trade Gio to NYR then? I'm assuming Seattle is keeping a lot of the salary?

You really need to understand the dynamics of trades occurring before and after the expansion draft, and if you did, you likely would retract this statement.

Hmm. How do you know when it’s time to jump ship?
They may become my new favourite team.

I don't think anybody cares what you think you know or what you think of their opinions, to be honest. The absolute worst posters on FOI like to think it's them against this non-descript "group" when we're all just individuals thinking on our own, trying to have a good time.
So to play that game, so far, the "do no right" crowd has been upset that:
- Gio wasn't traded in the days before the protection list
- Gio wasn't protected, because it meant we would lose him for nothing
- Treliving was trying to find a way to keep Gio
- We lost Gio for nothing
- We didn't trade Gio to the Rangers
- We didn't trade Gio at the trade deadline
It's like this is all new to you, or everything is exactly like you play it out on NHL 20 on your Xbox.
Base mode: be upset about everything. Enjoy yourself if that's how you want to be, but you couldn't spot "logic" if you hit it in a head-on collision. Apologies, I'm probably being a bit harsh based on your two comments, but I see comments like it all the time. And honestly, they're all so tiring.

I mean sure, you do you. I'm of the opinion that Treliving's resume so far is a mixed bag. He's done some good, and he's done some bad. If he's fired, my opinion would be I'm not surprised. Just as I'm not surprised if he continues to keep his job.
But blaming him for an expansion draft that's outside of his control is a bit over the top, no? I guess you can blame him for not trading him during the deadline, which I think is fair, but then, how do you know he didn't try? Maybe there were no takers at the time, or Tre was getting the signal that he could get Seattle to take someone different for a lower price than a 1st and a 3rd.
Let's be honest. There were many here writing off how terrible Gio was last season, and hoping Seattle takes him for free. It was only near the end after the deadline that Gio started playing better.
