Is Tarasenko now healthy? https://www.nhl.com/blues/news/taras...es/c-322152958
If he is, I think he’s still a great player who had an abnormally bad shooting percentage in limited action last year. If the Flames could get a deal like Tarasenko, a 1st and Thomas (or potentially even more) for Tkachuk, I would seriously consider it. Tarasenko’s deal is only for two more years.
I’m prepared to be lambasted.

Is he ‘Kucherov healthy’?
That may be the best kind of healthy

NO!

But this also leads to hilarious situations like Dany Heatley requesting a trade from Ottawa, but refusing to waive to go to Edmonton.

Toronto article says they could beat Tarasenko offer by offering Nylander.
Neither guy straight up does it for me. Would have to be valuable adds to go with either.

A package around Nylander would be of interest to me. Heck he was born in Calgary so bring him home! Throw in Nic Robertson

Throw in Matthews and we’ll consider it.

At least willy wasn't a slouch in playoffs.
8 points in 7 games and plus 3. Definitely not part of the problem there. The "big two" were more of an issue.

At this point if we can get nylander straight up for Tkachuk we have to consider it
Not sure how the leafs can resign Tkachuk though for anywhere near what nylander makes. Seems to be an important piece to that trade considering their cap issues.

St. Louis does have the pieces to get this done, but those pieces are Tarasenko, Perunovich and their 2022 or 2023 1st. If the Blues faithful don't get upset at what they would think is an overpay, I don't see why Calgary does it.
The same with Toronto. I would ask for Nylander, Amirov and their 2022 or 2023 1st. There is exactly zero pressure on Calgary.

Tarensenko offer makes some sense. It’s not far off
Leafs offer is very far off. Nylander has term on his deal and amirov is a much higher rated prospect than the blues have.
Not sure how the Flames have no pressure on them? They have 2 years sure but the last year could be at $9 mil and a rental player. You also must be assuming the rumours Tkachuk wants out are bs which could be true.

Imagine the 180 of the Canadian media towards Tkachuk

But was does it actually mean?
There are no legal consequences because the Blues don’t have to trade him. He has a made a request. That’s it. Why should Taresenko unilaterally give up his no trade protection if he’s not getting trade certainty from it?
They may have used the word “officially”, but that was simply their choice of words. It was used in a generic fashion. If it had legal consequences, no player would ever use it.

I see this Tkachuk, St Louis situation as an opportunity for the Flames. They have unusual leverage in this situation because Keith Tkachuk works for the Blues and may push to have the Blues acquire Matthew Tkachuk. You're always weaker in a negotiation when you are less willing to say no.

That Blues deal is absolutely horrendous. You actually think getting a winger who has been injured for 2 years, 30 years old with 2 years at 7.5M, a prospect drafted 3 years ago who is missing a full year due to injury and a single first rounder is enough for a 23 year old star player?
This trade looks like the Flames sending Monahan, Pelletier, 1st for Eichel. It is not near enough

Then they can go ahead and get a third team on the line for us.

If the Blues had the Rangers asset base we could definitely work to talk deal and I wouldn’t discount the Rangers as a team the Flames engage in a Tkachuk deal. As much as Chucky may want to go home the big lights of Broadway always seem to call to players.
Problem with the Blues is their current core is in that 30+ range and they have very little in terms of young talent with the same ceiling as Tkachuk.
I need 4 1st round compensation for Tkachuk from the Blues. Thomas, Kyrou, 22 and 23 1st rounder. We could also potentially include one of Backlund/Monahan for Tarasenko.
Tkachuk+Monahan
For
Thomas, Kyrou, Tarasenko, 22 1st, 23 1st
Blues fans will hate it but that is the price you pay in my opinion or we let Tkachuk rebuild his value next year and hope a bounce back season from the team.
