Yes. This will also help the young guys stock. Watch how they respond and gives teams better ideas of what a player has. Very intriguing.

I am really hoping for Mangiapane to solidify himself as a top six winger next year. He has already been progressing but hoping to see a big upcoming season from him.
Hopefully this experience really builds his confidence.

I wasnt sure he would ever be an entrenched 1st/2nd line guy.
I was wrong.
He proved himself just that this past season. When he/line mates were struggling he was still able to contribute other ways which is where I thought he would fall short.
Still has consistency issues at times but that was 100% better this year than previous campaigns. I would expect that to continue.
Pretty good little player really.

My only question is: can the Flames keep 2 small guys in their top six.
Especially when most of the other guys aren't too physical.

I think with added special team minutes next year the sky is the limit for Mangiapane; can’t wait to see the changes made to see what a new look top 6 on the flames can do with a coach like Sutter at the helm. Really hoping we can turn a Tkachuk package into a high end Center

I already think Mangiapane is a top-6 forward. I would say he was one of the Flames’ best and most consistent forwards last season. Also, I think he’s actually been very good for years now.
Next year, I want to see him getting a lot of PP time.

#88 has so exceeded any expectations I had.
He continues to develop and I hope what he does rubs off on Dube because Darryls not wrong about the entitlement Dube shows in his play.
I'm sure it will come in time and once he understand what he needs to do by following Eat breads example he'll be fine.

Glad Mangiapane is doing well at the worlds. I hope he takes another step next season. That said I remember that in 2019 Frolik had 14pts in 10 games. He followed it up by being pretty average for the Flames, then being traded to Buffalo. This season he could barely crack the lineup in MTL. Just looked it up and Frolik was 7th in scoring in that tournament. Even Dominik Simon was 9th, with 12pts in 10 games.

Don't see the comparison. Mangiapane and Frolik? Frolik was a solid 200 foot guy who could chip 15 or more in on Backlunds line. Mangiapane is an energy in the corners guy, way better better oo hiis edges and just far more dynamic than Frolik ever was.
Did I miss your point?

He isnt that small really.
Yes he is a bit undersized but he doesnt play that way at all. He gets engaged, mucks about in the front of the net at times, and certainly will battle along the boards. Those things along with his agility/shiftiness allow him to compete with the big boys.
Its the one huge knock on Gaudreau....as talented as he is with the puck, what he does away from it and to gain possession of it just isn't that good.

The point wasn't comparing Mangiapane to Frolik. It was more to make the point that performance at the worlds and the NHL don't really have a direct correlation. Just saying, I'm glad he's doing well, and I hope he takes another step, but that the performance at the worlds is essentially meaningless.

I think as a young player though any opportunity to compete on a larger stage with stakes is good for development. The fact he's playing a key role in that environment is what is encouraging.
Just continues to build the confidence of a player still on the rise.

Mangiapane is more like St. Louis than Gaudreau. He's a mucker and will go to the dirty areas. He still needs to improve his lower body strength, or put blades on his knees, but he's really surprising and earning his keep on the top lines. I think they can survive with a "small guy" like Mangiapane up there with Gaudreau. Just keep them separated.
