Tkachuk is completely useless. I wouldn't pay him 900k, much less 9 million.

We saw a different game perhaps.
Flames did nothing to draw any penalties.

Was really hoping that Sutter had gotten this group over the hump when it came to big games. Season on line and the old flames show up for the 3rd period. Guess I was kidding myself:

That third period was pathetic. Just another case of them expecting good things to happen rather than work for them.

This game didn't cost the Flames their season

The nice thing about this game was that it felt like flames playoff game, complete with crushing defeat at the end, knowing that the season is basically over.

Speculation on my part, but I imagine Tkachuk asks for a trade in the offseason. He doesn't want to go to battle with these guys anymore and the leaders on the team, like Lucic, Backlund and Gio can't seem to fix it.
|
I wonder if there is something to him quitting on the team after that team meeting early in the season? May have a "#### this ####, I ain't with this" philosophy since after that event, he hasn't looked like the Chucky we're used too since then.
Likely reading too much into there, but who knows. Wouldn't work in his favour contract wise. Either way the whole locker room culture is rotten, and needs to be destroyed by shifting out multiple core players.

Yeah? Cool story bro. Point is, not one single player in this core except Lindholm get to walk away from the noose.

It’s different problems all around. Gaudreau was pretty good, but got picked off a lot, and didn’t quite had the stuff he had the last few games. Monahan was present but the puck hated him tonight. A couple bad passes and a real whiff.
But at least those two guys were in on the play. Tkachuk - I can’t remember a play other than not being able to get a stick on a puck with a wide open net, and blocking a shot at the EN (and laying on the ice for a while).
Heck, even Dube, Mangiapane, Lucic and Lindholm were pretty ineffective tonight.

Well the good news is that my new second team has looked good recently, Florida really seems to have a good one-two punch down the middle. Pretty entertaining team too, it is unfortunate that the lost Ekblad but their future definitely looks bright.
Tough one for the Flames tonight, Darryl definitely is a much better coach, not much offensively for the Habs tonight. There just is not nearly enough horsepower on thr Flames. One injury on the backend really exposes that, if we lost a forward or two it would be catastrophic. Thankfully not many injuries this year allowed them to stay in the hunt until late in the season. Still have a chance, but likely have to almost win out. But this is the type of team you have when you are not quite done the rebuild yet.

There is absolutely something not right there.
Treliving has a hard time getting deals done but he has been diligent about moving guys that don't want to be here anymore.

Not overly shocking that it came down to that in a playoff type game.
Absolute crap.

I don't think the guys were good enough
But how can you award the 5 on 3 with ease then let up in the third for the Habs when one flips the puck out of play.
Game is just maddening. Relieved to be done with it soon.

The team is amazing, they just need more time. Give them one more year, maybe add a couple more league min bottom 6 guys and they're a contender! Right??

Agreed, and both tripping penalties that the Flames took to go down 5-on-3 looked like must-calls to me.

He's the only player aside from Lindholm and Mangi that actually creates offense, or at least tries to, generally on a game-to-game basis.
Just reiterates the team lacks offensive talent.

Hahahah. This is EXACTLY how I thought this would end, yet I still allowed my hopes to get up.
Game means something? Peace out effort, compete level and desire to win.

Exactly this. Who knew standing on the perimeter and whipping the pick around the boards doesn't work for creating chances and forcing the team to take penalties to prevent goals.
Pretty easy to defend the Flames.

I saw a couple non-calls - but it wasn’t the reason they lost.
