I'd like to see Kylington over Nesterov.

Him and Andersson have played together in the past, and really both have something to prove over these last 10 games.

Someone may have to play their off side to accommodate a shuffle, but I think that’s up to Sutter so we’ll see in 3 hours.

Is Michael Stone the 2021 version of 2015 Derek Engelland?

Well some where within the likes of Valimaki, Stone, Nestorov, and Kylingon we need to find a Comodore, and Montador to step up into a more important role. Likewise Rasmus needs to do like a young Andrew Ference and be that guy who could step up his game big time when the team needed it.

I really like Stone's game.

Pretty sure we've been the luckiest on this front this year. And among the luckiest the last several years.

Yes. Giordano was on a Norris Trophy-level tear in 2014–15 leading up to mid February when his bicep fell off of his humerus.

I have been pleasantly surprised by how Stone has played this season.

Hard to get injured when you play most of the season at half speed and butter soft.

I think Stone has been solid since he joined the team.

Yeah he struggled after coming back from the blood clot but other than that he got a pretty rough ride from folks.

He's just an honest hard working guy who has a bomb of a shot and is really good along the boards.

Yeah i think he can be Engelland like..........other than fighting one guy with each hand at the same time.

Sure glad he is here right now.

I don't think it is luck. It might serve to explain why the team has appeared so disengaged and easily neutralized the past few seasons.

Yup injuries certainly aren't an excuse for this group.

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Head coach Darryl Sutter confirms Noah Hanifin injured his shoulder in Montreal on the team’s last road trip.

Had been playing through it for the last few games and was aggravated on Saturday night.

I don't consider health to be good luck either, even if the likelyhood is low. How many great players' careers took off because of a big injury? Would Anthony Cirelli be a cup winning 2C without an injury to Stamkos?

I think the lack of accidental roster fluidity due to health prevents a lot of marginal players, even names like Jankowski or Stone, from getting a rhythm going because some players are so firmly entrenched in their roles.

It’s always Corey Perry, always has to be Corey freaking Perry. Hanifin goes to hit Corey Perry and in the most innocuous way possible, somehow ends up getting concussed while simultaneously blowing out his shoulder at the same time.

Perry then proceeds to make a nice tip pass for Montreal’s second goal. I absolutely hate playing against this guy, he always seems to pull some voodoo magic against the Flames. I’m still mad that we didn’t pick this guy up off waivers just so he couldn’t #### with us all season long.

Hailey Salvian @hailey_salvian
With Hanifin out, the message is clear for the rest of the #Flames young D.

"There are 3 or 4 young defenceman that have not lived up to expectations this year. So they have nine games to compete with each other and find out which 1 or 2 are able to take the next step." - Sutter

3 or 4?

Valimaki, Rasmus, Kylington... Is he throwing Mackey in there too?

Or does he consider Nesterov to be "young"?

I hope its not too bad.

NHL players tend to get sucked into their job by the disgusting "cult of hockey" people who feel they should take large risks to make existing injury's potential long term problems for them.

They get called wimps or worse for not playing through injury's, so their employer can make money off their health.

Here is hopping Hanifin's surgery is not so bad and he chose to step back earlier then what would be the norm in today's NHL.

Miss the player on ice, but got to cheer for his personal health first.

Edit: I should clarify, I just get the above perspective from watching interviews and reading the odd story about player injury's, if the culture of the NHL doesn't really promote players to play through injuries in a way that puts their long term health a risk, would love to hear it doesn't.

That's an interesting take on it. I never thought about it like that.
